I take my hat off to you Kalipo. It's good to see someone doing something for themself to improve their position rather than sit at home blaming the Government.

I don't know the background of the girl in the first post but I've dealt with loads of the poor me brigade. Before blaming others for the position they're in they should take a good look in the mirror and ask themselves if they tried their hardest at school. How many proper qualifications did they get. Do they do anything outside of their social life to mix with those that could help them out.

There's lots of jobs out there but also lots of competition so potential employers can afford to be fussy. If it was your company and you had to employ someone who would you choose? Personally having been in the position of employing others in no particular order I'd look for someone that had at least grade C and above basic qualifications in Maths and English. I'd judge their appearance and how they carry themself. Where they live, their hobbies and do they do anything for others and finally have they been recommended to me which is how lots of jobs are found. None of the above are the Governments doing.

I'm sure there's plenty of people on here that have got jobs via friends and family. There's even Networking Groups where you can mix with others and get your name about. Sitting at home printing off CVs can only get you so far.

Wise words. There's no gain without some pain.

          THE TRUTH
          The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

There are jobs out there.. but like snowy said.. these companies can pick and chose their candidates to there liking..

If this girl in the story is on the dole.. and then her dole stops like it is the intentions of the government.. it will burden her father further.. But im thinking to myself if the above scenario happened would the birthrate of the country drop..

Think about it.. would a teenage women who's 16-17 really want to have children if the muggins job centre wont pay for it?? it would confuse it further when the nhs put a block on abortions as too many are applying..

Times are tricky.. if you've got a job.. stick with it and apply for others.. something new will come along..

            Chin up people.

It is soul destroying to continuously apply for work and not receive a reply.
From the employers point of view I suppose it's not practical, due to the volume of applications, to reply to all.
I found myself in the same situation in the last recession in the 80's and after hundreds of applications decided that this was not the way.
I sent off one application with the form left blank and explained to the people that I was capable and qualified to do the position offered and that they would have a probationary period in which to assess me and get to know me and that I was available immediately.
I was offered an interview on that basis and got the job but, alas, the company folded towards the end of my 1 year probation and I was unemployed again.
I decided thereafter to 'sell' myself and hadf part time work until the recession ended.

finding a job and getting a job is hard enough as it is if your not in the know ( that girl moved to a different area, so when its about who you know not what you know, sadly she prolly knows no one close by) but the attidudes of some at the job centre are unhelpful to say the least.

After phoning 30 bars/restaurants and hotels in the space of an hour, Garry put every one of them down in those stupid diary jobcentre books and then throughout the week obviously adding to it as he emailed his cv etc. He somehow managed to mistakingly get a coffee mark on this booklet and the woman looked and spoke to him worse than you would a piece of shit on your shoe.

For those with that attitude you would think the money was coming from them personally out their pocket. Some people DON'T want to be in that situation. Some peope DO want to work, i wish everyone on the dole would stop getting tarred with the same brush, it's degrading enough.

I'm glad at this point in my life my partner is in work, but his line of work isn't permanent or long term, so i can only hope when his contract ends he finds something straight away.

For some people claiming benefits isn't a luxury or a life choice, its a ~~~~ing means to an end.

A lot of jobs today are handed to those you know as oppossed to those that apply and qualifications have been watered down to such an extent most mean nothing. Add to this the modern generation of youngsters spend more time locked in their rooms playing computer games and don't socialise as much as the older generation did. When they apply for jobs all they have to offer is a piece of paper with very little if anything to seperate each candidate from.

In my days you got jobs on recommendations. Someone knew your Dad or one of your family as hard workers, loyal, honest etc. Chances are they'd probably seen you about even if it was on the Football pitch or Golf Course. Most Council jobs were handed down this way. The ones that never got employed this way set their own businesses up and made contacts. I was a self employed locksmith and lost count how much work I picked up playing Golf or talking to people in the Gym. Infact you'd be surprised how much business is done outside of work. These are the areas that the young and unemployed need to target if they want to get noticed.
