No matter how much i like Top Gear I have to say Jeremy Clarkson and his two side kicks are very selfish and pompous. A matter of fact the little guy needs an ass kicking. Other than that i do like the show.

Maybe if this government and previous governments had not taken us into unneccesary wars all over the middle east, and bailed out all sorts of countries who got themselves into trouble with THEIR CURRENCIES then maybe we would have some cash left to pay these people what they agreed to and signed up to.
This is the cruelest of deceptions, let the politicians lead the way by having their over inflated salaries and pensions cut and handing back the golden handshake they get when they are rejected by the electorate.Comment

See that's one of the problems, the government aren't even looking at the bigger picture, nor do they want to. The conservatives are too close to businesses and no business wants to pay more into private sector pensions - therefore the government won't address it. Companies would rather pay their boards more money, and directors get massive increases compared to the people who actually work.I would be happy to support public sector workers with their strike if they had taken a lot less selfish attitude and campaigned for legislation to be introduced to legally enforce all private employers to provide the same pension as provided to public sector workers.. Hey, we've got the minimum wage... why not extend minimum pay conditions to include pension rights? That would be fairness, but the country would go down the swanny if introduced...as the private business shuts down...
If the private sector pensions are lower, then they should be fighting to uplift private sector pensions, not drag public sector pensions down in the mire. The government is taking the pi$$ and they are pitting public against private sector to meet their own targets.
Public sector pension contributions made by worker have never been invested, over the years the successive governments have simply took the money and spent it rather than invest which is what should have happened.
The government is acting like the thief it is by not wanting to pay out the money it spent, which it should have invested, and making every excuse not to do so. Insurance companies do that every time they have to pay out as well, bunch of thieves
Pitting the private and public sectors against each other is a great act of deflection, and it's working really well.
As for Clarkson, he's an ar$e the world knows it, and he's getting lots of free publicity, job done even bad publicity is better than no publicity. My master plan is to live forever..... going to plan so far

Which ever Government is in charge, regardless who they are will ensure they get any money pumped into pensions back. Whether we're on a Private or State pension. They could give us all ?100,000 per year and all they'll do is charge stupid tax on food, water and fuel to get it back.
Picking on Clarkson is just a similar smoke screen as the one pitting the private pensions against the state pensions. Divide and conquer as they say.
Clarkson made his money by being a bit different. His show is extremely popular as people want to hear some of the non PC stuff for a change. If the majority of viewers don't want this type of entertainment then why isn't the Antiques Road Show on 24/7.Comment

Yes....and in the end - the last resort is with your feet - but especially in public sector - be wary where it is done. ambulance workers, medical al that jazz - Teachers another story. Unfortunately, as early posts have referred to public sector workers know what htey get into - some liek teachers get the extra hols - others get a kind of job for life - but again things change - like for all of us - the recession has been biting at our shirt tails for many a year now - and even fpor the most stable jobs - we are in toruble & if we are not careful - we'll lose them all again to the underpayed Eurpoenas who will take it as they see a light at the end of a tunnel where minimum wage/and or a job like that - has at least a chance to get up the lasser and off the sette. So in the end yes - clarkson's bit was a bit below the beltbut was said with the same caavlier attitude he normally says things - e can - he has the cash - for any downsides - but in the end don't take the guy too seriously... We all could do with a little humour be it dry or not in these times. Smile it's a Sunday

ye I did that, spent 4 years in the public sector, paid into a super-an pension, and now it's locked until I reach 65, or work for the public sector again, because you cannot cash it in or transfer it to a private scheme, so it's not that easy, to just leave and get another job, especially if you have a good few years paid into your pension.!retupmoc eht ni deppart m'I !pleHComment

Oh go on then, give me the exact figure of someone you know, which part of the public sector they worked for, how long they worked there, how much they contributed and what they receive in pension, so we can be specific.
Otherwise you may as well name yourself Dave Cameron and just quote nonsense generalisations. My master plan is to live forever..... going to plan so far
