One of the pioneers of gaming and
modern computers passed away earlier
today. Jack Tramiel launched the
Commodore 64, the most popular
personal computer in history which
shaped many of the things we take for
granted in terms of computers and
gaming today. A survivor of Auschwitz,
Tramiel emigrated to the US and worked
in the army and as a New York cabbie
before founding Commodore. After
successfully launching the C64, Tramiel
resigned from the company he founded
and founded the Atari corporation
which launched among other things, the
Atari ST, Lynx and Jaguar. He was a
visionary. Tramiel was the Steve Jobs of
his day.
