
Prostitutes and drug dealers may not often be considered the most economically productive of Britain?s workers, but from September their activities will give the UK a ?10 billion lift.
Under an overhaul of the national accounts to meet a dictat from Brussels, the Office for National Statistics will for the first time this year include drugs and prostitution in its estimate of the size of the economy.
