NEARLY 50,000 under-25s will lose their dole cash if they fail to take up new jobs being offered today.
Work secretary Yvette Cooper has teamed up with firms to offer 47,000 positions to youngsters on the dole long-term.
They MUST take the positions offered or lose welfare handouts under a new crackdown.
It is part of a Government drive unveiled today to save a generation from ruin in the recession.
Ministers will also call on Britain's bosses to offer unpaid internships and other positions to school and college leavers.
The 47,000 new posts will be made available to those out of work more than 12 months.
They include working as care assistants for the sick and elderly and as sports coaches in schools.
Miss Cooper said: "We are determined not to lose a generation of talent to the recession."
Ministers will unveil a Backing Young Britain strategy to help under-25s through the recession.
Firms will be paid by part of a ?1billion Future Jobs Fund. UK firms have so far come up with 5,000 apprenticeships and work experience spots.
A website will be set up offering 2,000 internships for school and college leavers.
They include major companies like Microsoft, M&S and Network Rail.
