    RIP Road Tax Discs

The last day of tax discs, tomorrow they're gone. However I do wonder why car salesmen/forecourts haven't kicked up a fuss, or have I missed something that perhaps someone knows.

When buying a car the only way to tax it is going to be at the post office, so DVLA say. If I buy a car from a on a Saturday afternoon or on a Sunday you'll have to wait until Monday to be able to pick up the car and drive it? Why haven't car salesrooms kicked up a fuss?

Are they on a percentage of fines from DVLA for fitting ANPR cameras outside the forecorts on a Saturday afternoon or a Sunday picking off those people who buy cars on those days? Perhaps a share of the extra fine revenue?

Won't it kill weekend car sales?

Will it make more car salesman unemployed so they'll have to clean up parks after 6 months?

Is Dave going to be broke in his 'real job' as a second hand car salesman without weekend sales......

    Anyone?

My master plan is to live forever..... going to plan so far

wont the car still be taxed after you buy it ? it will take a good few days till dvla gets the log book to say its been sold to you, so the anprs will still say its taxed if they pick you up.

New cars don't come with tax discs, so that will likely end the sale of new cars at weekends. Second hand cars from garages, normally they come untaxed because the garage or the previous owner has already cashed in the tax disc, so ends the secondhand car market at weekends as well.

Sounds like a way of discouraging people to buy cars at weekends to me

No they won't, that's the point, when sold they're sold without tax according to DVLA. If you want to test that theory of yours please do I'll watch the test case with my intrigue packed up and taped in a cardboard box at the side of me.
If I sell my car will the tax be transferable?

No. If you sell or transfer it, you'll have to tell the DVLA and they'll refund you with any full months' tax remaining. If you buy a used vehicle after October 1, you'll have to tax it before you can use it – no more using existing remaining months of tax.
Do you think that if you bought a car from me that I'd taxed that I'd not tell them the date I sold it to save you having to get tax from that very minute and maybe let you have a day or so before I told them ? If I were to do that you could quite easily take the car out, run up numerous traffic offences/speeding taxation and run people over and drive off leaving me the blame.

                            Question is thus:-

the last car I sent tax back on it said "you cannot retax this vehicle for three weeks".

Bit one sided, you buy a car from 109 miles away, agree with gmb
