    I like the system most people and the papers use. A hot day its in the 80s F. A cold day minus 5C.

      (1m?) <----- I like that little 3 Chroma, thanks

      as opposed to a bag of sugar which I don't need a forklift for.

      in centimetres;
      100 x 100 x 100 = 1,000,000 cm? = tonne (water)

      1cc = 1x1x1 = 1cm? = 1ml
      or the same as
      10mm x 10mm x 10mm = 1000mm? (which isn't the same as 1000ml)

      In this case, centimetres is better than milimetres, coz a tonne bag would be 100,000,000 mm? and that number is daft..

      I maintain ...BAN THE CENTIMETRE!!

      is a centilitre the same as a centimetre tho

        no, 100 cc I believe...
        need to eat me noodles and think about it

        centilitres is a volume measurement... ie cubic (to the 3rd dimension) length x breadth x height
        centimetre is linear measurement ie straight line...

        then there is area, cm? 2 dimensional length x breadth

            yeah a litre of water is a kilo.
            but a litre of oil would be heavier,
            same as a litre of gold would be a lot lot heavier

            or is oil lighter?? but whatever... you have to us the SD (specific density) factor to convert.... it's a long time since I did Physics, 30 years ago

              so a ml is the same as a gram then as long as its water and not a denser material

                yeah, it would be. 1000 ml = 1000cc = 1 litre = 1Kg
                ipso fatso 1 ml = 1 gram.
                Never thought about it that way b4.

                    Jut remember when your lecturer asks you what the voltage is if its running at 5 amp with 75ohms its not apporpriate to tell him in litres

                      tell me about it all this ohms law and equations has got me well baffled i only want to join wires together they are banging on about splitting atoms,force of gravity,e-mc2,pico farads, nano seconds 10*10 to the power of 12 squared by the ~~~~in pythagorus of the newton of the speed of light by 9.81seconds

                      how the ~~~~ does all that help you when some asks for an extra socket

                          WE (irish) are still working between pints and litres and feet and metres to the extent that our President recently received a warning from the EU that if we dont fully adopt the metric system , the EU will come down on us like a TON of bricks.

                            fair play i dont know what the fuss is about tbh with it all we all still get pints and why not

                            why cant we have what we want or why dont they just display both versions on the packet if you want a pound of mince let it show a lb on the packet and the metric 454g who's arsed

                            would you rather ask for a pint of beer or 568mls of beer please or a half litre of beer

                            its communism
