UP TO 12 INCHES OF SNOW IS ON THE WAY

BRITAIN is facing a fresh deluge of snow today with forecasters warning that up to a foot could fall in some places.

Temperatures will remain freezing in most areas but the South and South-east are likely to see a partial thaw.
A total of 28 people are thought to have died as a result of the cold weather. Hospitals have been overwhelmed with people who have *broken bones after slipping on ice. Others patients have suffered respiratory problems brought on by the freezing weather.
The South-west and South Wales will see the worst of the heavy snow today and tomorrow. A Met Office forecaster said: ?A band of heavy snow will move north eastwards during Tuesday afternoon and the first part of Wednesday before easing off.
?New snow accumulations of 5cm (2in) to 10cm (4in) are expected widely with 10cm to 20cm (8in) likely in places.
?This is more likely in parts of South Wales and on high ground of south-west England. On high ground there?s also a moderate risk of over 30cm (12in).? Rail services continued to be disrupted yesterday with many firms operating revised timetables. Eurostar urged passengers not to travel unless it was essential.
Airports were open but travellers were told to keep checks on the status of their flight.
National Grid issued its latest ?balancing alert? on gas supplies. It is the fourth warning of a potential shortfall in supplies since the current cold spell began.

Here we go again. I love the weather peoples ability to say things like this, and when nowt happens, they go about like they never said it. According to the weather reports for Sunday just gone it was supposed to be like the Day After Tommorrow, especially in the South, and South East where I was working. There was ~~~~ all! Quite a pleasant day in fact, 1C is quite pleasant after the -6's we have had lately.
So I will wait to see this band touring the south today and tomorrow, and wait for the weather mens report when it doesn't happen.

              BAN THE CENTIMETRE!!!

thats better.. I honestly think centimetres should be outlawed. All it does is confuse matters.
Our lass said to me my young lass is 1 metre and 2! to me that is 1002, to her with her centimetre brain, it is 102 cm (1020).

              BAN THE CENTIMETRE!!!

                metric is awesome!

water freezes at 0c and boils at 100c
weights, measures and volume are easily converted between one another, like:
1l of water takes up 1m? and weighs a kilogram
1ml takes up 1cm? and weighs a gram.

Metric is beautiful in its simplicity.

t only gets complicated when im talking to my old man and tell him the shim should be 3 thous and 2 microns
DID YOU MEASURE IT TO EXACTLY 4FOOT 3CM????
He who laughs last thinks slowest.

1m3 (1 cubic metre (how did you get a little 3?)) is a thousand litres, hence 1 tonne! surely?

                    hold in the alt key
type 0178 then let it go and you get squared ?

do it again and type 0179 and you get cubed ?

                    1m? is 10cm * 10cm * 10cm which is 1000l which weighs a metric ton, 100cm? is 1l. so yeah i bolloxed up

is a ml and a mm equal to a gram then

and how is 100cm3 equal to 1L when you just said that 10cm3 is a 1000L

                      100cm*100cm*100cm = 10 milliion mm or 1 million cm or 10000m

                      isnt it 10cm3 a litre

inches or centimetres still all too much snow for england.... we get all this crap about global warning do all we can to save the planet etc and the goverment never ever get it right always an exscuse about why the country is at a stand still when we get snow,in places were they get it worse than us every year life goes on as normal....on a different note the suns sunspot activity has changed rapidly in the past ten years which is relevant to changes on earth so us saving on emissions blah blah blah aint gonna change the universe its all cods wallop.......

That simple metric is confusing .
What i know is a cubic metre to me, is a 1000 litre oil carrier. Or a metre bag (big white bags you get from Wickes)
                              1 metre x 1 metre x 1 metre = 1 m? and I know it takes a forklift to lift it!
                              (1m?) <----- I like that little 3 Chroma, thanks

as opposed to a bag of sugar which I don't need a forklift for.

                              in centimetres;
                              100 x 100 x 100 = 1,000,000 cm? = tonne (water)

                              1cc = 1x1x1 = 1cm? = 1ml
                              or the same as
                              10mm x 10mm x 10mm = 1000mm? (which isn't the same as 1000ml)

In this case, centimetres is better than milimetres, coz a tonne bag would be 100,000,000 mm? and that number is daft..

                              I maintain ...BAN THE CENTIMETRE!!
