Skin deep ... peel off the Pure label and it's a pricier Botanics product

just shows you how the big companies are ripping us off, but then again i brought stuff from the pound shops to find out its cheaper from wilcos

LOTIONS costing just ?1 at discount stores are the SAME as those sold at Boots for up to ?8.

Poundland's Pure face, body and bath range has products identical to those in the high street chemist's pricey No7 and Botanics lines - only with different labels stuck on.
    High Street brand ... Boots

Researchers peeled off Pure labels and found a ?1 Super Firming Body Cream from Poundland in Hartlepool was an ?8 Boots No7 Fabulously Firming Body Cream. A Pure Foaming Bath Souffle from Poundland in Harrow, Middx, was a ?4.99 Boots Botanics Foaming Bath Float.
The probe by consumer website MoneySavingExpert also found bargain chain B&M had a 50p bottle of Holiday Sun lotion that was a ?1.99 Boots Botanics Body Glow. Some of the products were end of line but others were still on sale at Boots.
MoneySavingExpert founder Martin Lewis said many discount store own-label products are made in the same factories as bigger brands. He added: "It's pretty tough to deny it's the same product when it has the label on underneath."
Poundland's David Coxon said: "We work with a range of reputed suppliers."
    Boots is investigating.

    It's called "cosmetic seconds."

Products that have gone slightly wrong like damage during transit, incorrect formula (outside of tolerances), liquidation stock, fire damage stock, etc.

Its to protect brand integrity and quality, if youve got a lot of product thats not fit to carry the brand name due to the previous reasons then your able to make a turn over on the screwup by rebranding as budget stock.

OFF TOPIC but relevent to what Pat just said.

      TRUE STORY
Many years ago a man wanted a new telly, all his mates down the pub had a whatever brand, ?600 a pop.

Few weeks later the same man walks into a tv repair shop (one of the locals in the pub rus it), has walks in with one of these ?600 TV.

Shop owner says 'Yeah mate, wot 'bout it?"
Just paid ?125 for it got a problem on button is volume, off is teletext button 1 is 5, button 5 is 2 etc.

Turns out it was a bad batch, they made thousands of these tv's before they clocked that some dumb ~~~~ had programmed them wrong, but to sort the fault out MASSIVE stripdown, so they just sold them as 'seconds'
