LABOUR deputy leader Harriet Harman was slammed as ?ridiculous and irresponsible? last night for praising ?hero? immigrants who send their benefit handouts home.

The party chief caused outrage by saying foreigners should be encouraged to claim cash from British taxpayers and post it back to their relatives.

The former equalities minister even said immigrants should get a tax break on their handouts so they can send even more cash abroad.

Her comments have caused outrage as thousands of hard-working Brits struggle to make ends meet after the recession and fresh Government cuts.

Matthew Sinclair, from the Taxpayers? Alliance, said: ?Taxpayers will be shocked that Harriet Harman is praising immigrants who send taxpayers? money to other countries and claim benefits they don?t deserve. The system is supposed to support those in real need in Britain.?

Ms Harman had been speaking to mainly foreign voters at Southwark town hall in her London constituency. But despite the fury she defended her stance, saying: ?We should respect people who send money back to their families in Africa and encourage it.

The reason for immigrants coming in this country is to improve there life and to try and get a job earn enough cash in order to send some money back home but what the deputy leader said that?s the wrong way to encourage the unemployed immigrants already on benefit handouts, in my opinion she should have said we will give you benefit for 3 months during this time if you do not find work you will be sent home. What I can not understand that we haven?t got money for the students but we the money for people who have not supported UK with income taxes, and council taxes, etc.

we should go the whole hog and open a postoffice in africa, that way their families could withdraw the benefit direct...

save them a few quid on postage or rmoney transfers.....

before you start flaming me,let me explain my stance
africa has been,over the years completely and utterly raped and pillaged by amongst others the uk,it is by far the richest part of the planet for minerals and precious metals etc,,and to this day we are still robbing that country blind and giving absolutely nothing back,,,,although the chinese now have a major foothold in africa aswell
if i was an african then i would be doing the same,,,whether im here working and paying tax and sending money back home to my starving family or claiming benefits and trying to send whatever i can back home,,if most of you reading this were in the same position and your sons daughters mums dads were literally starving wouldnt you do the same ?
im pretty sure you would,,,its called desperation,,,do you really think that if they were in total control of that continents resources they would be here in the uk trying to get whatever they can,,,the truth is they wouldnt need to be here,,and all the ~~~~~in robbing despot regimes in africa that we amongst others keep armed to the teeth make sure aswell that most get nothing and few get the most,

What you are trying to say is that the Robin Hood way is the right way to do, take the money from rich Gov and pay the poor. We have United Nations helping poor people all around the world for those matters.

maybe thats how it sounds,but we are talking about a continent so big and rich in natural resources that it should never ever need handouts but due to colonialism it does and all they get are some token gesture handouts,,the world ,espescially the western world should be ashamed,and to simply say we have the un for that is completely wrong in my view

You are saying that the Europeans explorers came to Africa only for gold and diamonds and not to educate the Africans you are wrong the Europeans in the early 18th & 19th centuries came to Africa just in time because thousands of peoples were dyeing from deadly diseases from cholera, smallpox, malaria, and most of the villages were wiped out because I am looking into the Europeans as angels and you are looking at them the different way.

Surely the black africans run africa now and most of african countries are kept in poverty by their rich leaders,rich african countries have gone to ruin since black governments have taken over so laying the blame at other peoples doors is laughable,Britain has become a source of wealth for immigrants from all over the world to the detriment of its own people in my opinion.

If we come back to the original arguments the only way to stop the payments to other party is by providing immigrants with payments vouchers and no cash in hand.
