No new contract for Joey Barton??

Whats your thoughts, Where will he go? I for one think he has had a good season, he is a loose canon and a handful off the pitch, but i think on the park he has been by far the best player for Newcastle this season... and to let him go as a free agent is stupid.. if hes not staying cash in on him....

Barton is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Newcastle this summer and the club were thought to be keen on agreeing an extension with the midfield dynamo.
However, after talks with the player's representatives Newcastle have decided not to offer a new deal to Barton and will allow the former Manchester City man to see out his current contract.
Barton's agent, Willie McKay, has confirmed Newcastle have decided not to offer the 28-year-old a new deal after holding talks with club officials over his future.
"I had a meeting with Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias and club secretary Lee Charnley and they have indicated Joey will not be offered a new contract," McKay told skysports.com.
"Joey will continue to be a Newcastle player next season and then he will leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract.
    Commitment

"Joey would have loved to have extended his stay at Newcastle, but unfortunately it is not to be.
"Joey has loved his time at Newcastle and nothing will change his commitment for the club next season.
"Obviously we will be monitoring the situation next January to try and find a new club for Joey as he can speak to clubs from abroad in January."
The news comes as a major surprise as Barton has been Newcastle's stand-out performer this season with a number of eye-catching displays and he was named the fans' player of the season this term.
News of Barton's availability is sure to alert a number of clubs at home and abroad with the likes of Hamburg and Olympiakos thought to be keeping tabs on his situation.
Liverpool and Aston Villa are also thought to be keen on Barton and news of his contract situation could see them step up their interest in the player this summer.

I was told pool or villa, I no hes has had a good season for newcastle but i don't know if i would want to risk taking him on, could end up like Joe Cole, don't get me wrong i wanted
joe to come to united but now glad he didn't, I also feel same about Adams, Dont think he could play in a big team with loads of big name plays, he shines at blackpool but it would be different at a big club i think, Barton has shon all season at newcastle but would you want to risk having him at your club!!

if i'm honest no he's a decent enough player but thats outweighed by the baggage he brings with him especially if he comes back to liverpool and picks up with all his old mates

I would love him to come to Liverpool. I don't give a sh*t what he does off the field. He is a good footballer and was the best Newcastle player this year.

Oh and don't forget his link up play with Carrol, will really give pool a good chance of getting that lucrative europa spot.

y? I think Barton has been class this season for Newcastle Pleying really well in a poor team, he has shon!! but i beleave pool taking him would be a big mistake for them.... but like i keep saying its my opinion Liverpool don't need players like Barton they need better players who can play in a big team.. Don't get me wrong i would love him to go to you!! I beleave it would be a suicidal signing for any big team, as his man management just for him is massive and to take all the baggage that comes with Barton would kill a big club!!

The guy has had a tough time, all through himself though. We have all been prats with drinks and mates taking things to far in our lifes, well to me Barton has changed, I've seen him getting kicked bad tackles on him and he did not retaliate back to their level, from watching Barton this last season he is a better man/player. I hope he does leave Newcastle and go to a better club and prove us all wrong and do well.

While things are going right for him on the pitch and while he is clearing showing he is the best player in the team he doesn't need any other attention, But if things don't go his way on the pitch and when he is not the best plyer at the team he is at, he looks for other ways to get attention.... to me Joey Barton is a good player at a average team, But if things go wrong for him he is a loose canon and i don't think that will change, I couldn't and wouldnt want to chance it, but there will be a few clubs who will, But like i say Newcastle need to cash in on him now, Get rid, wont get much for him with only a year left on his contract, But something i think is better than nothing!!
