Why are you attacking xant? He did not defend or condone paedophilia at all. He made a valid point, that subject to certain exceptions, you cannot stop every convicted criminal from earning a living.

Going against the grain, and at the risk of getting slated here, these are two different things.
The club has got him to play footie, and posssibly he plays well. This is not effected by him being a kiddie fiddler, mass murderer, or whatever he decides to do.

In fact it just proves your lack of comprehension since no-one defended the player, they simply made an observation regarding what society does with sex offenders. Who do you think would be landed with the bill if sex offenders weren't allowed to work? The tax-payer.

In this case, i agree the player should be sacked. Footballers are role-models and thus there is no place for a paedophile in such a role. However, they should be allowed to earn a subsistence income in jobs where they can be monitored.

To me i think you are missing the point with the first few post, some post were trying to justify the club not sacking him and trying to justify it with other crimes like GBH!! The courts are ment to provide justice the punishment is ment to reflect the crime and in meny cases it dose not !

Take a look at my avitar I like to have a few spliffs now and again, if I was to be nicked for having a plant yes a PLANT it carries up to 7years jail time !!! I cant see how my crime is afecting anyone except myself.
If you rape someone or are a pedo in this country you would be UNLUCKY to get 3 years, these crimes destroy the lives of the victim and their familys and afect the victim for the rest of their life ! Where is the justice ?

I would bring back the death penalty for some crimes (rape,pedo's,murder) I mean it you would only need to kill a few of each and I garantee 99.9% of these crimes would stop.

I would have thought footballers would have to have a CRB check, as they come in to contact with children and the disabled, how would it work if he was the captain and he had to walk on the pitch holding hands with a kid,
I don't think he should be allowed to carry on playing football, as already stated footballers are hero worshiped, and because of this it would make it easy for him to attract and groom more young girls,
there are also young girls out there who will be aware of this case, and may go looking for him in the hope of a relationship.
