A gesture it is Mate , to you and i ?96,000 is a lot , but not to a man who's earned milloins through our club , and already a multi milionaire in his own right , milks us for another ?6,000,000 .
If he'd have resigned , then made the donation , he may have gained my respect , but he didn't , so he hasn't !
Not to mention the bunch of overpaid under performers he's left us with !

He didn't have to give a penny, he chose to donate. What do you think he has gained personally from donating ? The answer is, nothing at all. I agree with you on the shite that's been left but we're talking about Benitez the man not the manager.

      THE TRUTH
      The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

I'll give you the fact he didn't have to donate Mate and suppose you can't take that away from Benitez the man , but i've made donations to charity in the past and never recieved even a thank you , because that's the way i've wanted it and they dont know who it's come from. If Benitez the man would have wanted the same , it's so easy to arrange , even more so for a man in a position of power. The last major anonymous donation i read of was ?12,000,000 to a leading cancer charity , lots of speculation as to who but they're still guessing .

Why shouldn't he want the fans to know he donated ? It shows he cares. I don't know where your coming from here. Bottom line seems to be you don't like Benitez as a manager and can't seperate the manager from the man. Thats upto you and it's your opinion but i can't honestly see what your problem is. The man has moved to a new country and a new job and chose to donate a signicant amount of money on his departure.

I'd rather know that he gave what he did than not know, Whatever people say about him as a manager (for lfc) I liked him as a person and admired the way he handled the interviews after the games. I just cant wait for the day Liverpool play Inter..... Cleaned up on Stevies goal for England aswell.!!

Yeah , nuff said on the matter i suppose , i'm just glad he's gone , bigger fish to fry , such as our financial dire straights and our beloved american backers to name just a few.
It's a big ask for whoever gets the job and difficult to pick us up and move on , think it's a bit too much for Kenny given the stress he'd be under again , with half of the managers in the prem , getting a mention on LFC'S website !

What do you lot think about Dalglish being touted as your next manager?

My thoughts are that he was responsible for the downfall of Liverpool. He inherited a world class side from Fagan and lived on their credit, kinda like the Chelsea team now is still Mourinho's team. But Dalglish didn't refresh the team and they got old and crap, and they have never recovered. Sure you've had some bad managers since, but in my opinion he was the catalyst.

As a United fan I'd be pleased to see him go to Liverpool because I can't see them becoming a force again under his leadership. To be honest I'm shocke at how many ex-players who supposedly know about the game want him back in charge!
What do you guys think? Do you want him there?

Dalglish is a legend and for that reason i wouldn't like to see him come back and see some of the younger fans turn against him if things don't go well. However, out of the names being thrown around, Hodgson, Oneil etc , i would take Kenny first.

Dalglish brought in players like Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge, Houghton, Mcmanaman and Redknapp. To say he didn't refresh the team is wrong. The team of 88 is possibly the best team i have ever seen, certainly on a par with the team of 79. What was it the great Tom Finney said after we thrashed Forest in the league 5-0... "That has got to be the best performance i have EVER seen by a football team in my life"
He left Liverpool when they were top of the league. he stated in his book that he left because of the stress he felt after Hillsborough and all the funerals he attended, if you tremember him you would know how he seemed to age in those couple of years.
Like i said, the man is a legend and always will be to me and thousands of others. What i would say is, although he hasn't managed for a while he hasn't been away from the game hiding in a hole somewhere. For me, he can do no wrong.

i dont think kenny could do it long term, but as a stand in or mentor then yes im all for it.we need someone who will hit the ground running.the start of the season isnt that far away and with the world cup and its potential for injuries whoever steps in will have his hands full from day one.thats where kennys knowledge of the players could be a blessing in disguise.

Roy Hodgson in the dark over Liverpool job speculation

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has remained tight-lipped over rumours linking him with the vacant Liverpool job.
Rafael Benitez, who has since joined Inter Milan, left Anfield earlier this month and Hodgson has been widely touted as his potential successor.
"I'm Fulham manager. I'm perfectly happy at Fulham," the BBC World Cup pundit told presenter Gary Lineker in Cape Town.
"There's a lot of speculation but I can't enlighten you," he added.
After six years in charge, Benitez left Liverpool by mutual consent, with managing director Christian Purslow and former boss Kenny Dalglish given the task of finding his replacement.

Dalglish managed the side from 1985 to 1991, during which time they won the league three times.
He is now an ambassador for the club's academy and has been tipped for a possible return to the managerial hot-seat by the likes of former team-mates Mark Lawrenson and Bruce Grobelaar.
The hugely-experienced Hodgson has been in charge of Fulham since December 2007 and in December 2009 he signed a new 12-month rolling contract.
The 62-year-old's achievement in guiding Fulham to the final of the Europa League saw him named manager of the year by the League Manager's Association.

Dalglish won three league titles as manager of Liverpool
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill's name has also been mentioned, although he has recently committed his future to the club after showdown talks with owner Randy Lerner.
Former Manchester City manager Mark Hughes, who is currently without a club, has also been mentioned as has ex-Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini.
Ex-Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink's agent told BBC Sport he did not the Dutchman would be a candidate, having only recently taken over as boss of the Turkish national team, and the agent of Croatia coach Slaven Bilic told BBC Sport it was "frivolous" to think of him taking the job.
The agent of former Holland and Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard has also moved to distance his client from the speculation.
"Rumours linking Frank to Liverpool are just that, rumours," Perry Overmeers told BBC Sport.
"Frank is the type of person who likes to fulfil his obligations and he has one year left on his contract with Galatasaray.
"There has been no contact from Liverpool."

you have to read a lot of column inches to sift out the speculation, most journos wouldnt know the truth if you battered them over the head with it.the likes of maddock etc will ply the same story over and over because theyre too idle to go out and ask, or the facts dont fit their "truth".

heard a rumbling from a very good source that we have been sold for ?560m to the Abu Dhabi group... (If this is true we will be the richest club in the League)

Expect a statement but not until 15 July
