I think Gerrard would only leave if we were going under. lfc4life is 100% correct we need a midfielder more than a striker. One good holding midfielder and we need a left winger. we could use a striker but those positions need to be filled first.

Alonso was never replaced and now that stretches to Mascherano too..

To be honest we need a top level defender, two more top level midfielders and an additional top drawer striker..

Until then we'll be fighting for 5th for the foreseeable future

no I'm not.... not one of our players can even entertain any excuses of being tired after a full 2 week break..

I'm not daft enough to think we can win it, but a full concerted effort to at least throw the kitchen sink at it may be good enough to climb to 4th..

There is no excuse now after this break, it could be a big blessing in disguise..

Lucas, Mereiles, Gerrard, poulson is a backup, others can play there if needed, We need defense and frontmen... Get rid of the deadwood because there is ****ing loads of it in the squad.

BBC News - Israeli former football international Avi Cohen dies

Former Israeli international footballer Avi Cohen has died from head injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, his son Tamir Cohen says.

He was pronounced brain dead by doctors at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Mr Cohen, 54, was gravely injured in a motorcycle accident in Tel Aviv last week.

The defender was the first Israeli to play in the English top flight when he signed for Liverpool in 1979.

"To our great sadness, a health ministry committee was in the hospital today and confirmed that our father is indeed brain dead. Which is to say, he has died," Tamir Cohen said, the Reuters news agency reported.

Avi Cohen made 24 appearances for Liverpool, scoring one goal in the match against Aston Villa which secured the team the 1979-80 league title.
