i think what he means is that you can finish 4th and then be european champions.
if you finish 3rd in the group stages, you go into the europa league.
i would prefer the old way, a proper knock out cup for champions. the uefa cup was equivilent to the c/l , the 2nd and 3rd placed teams entered, plus the league cup winners. i'm all for a european league competition but surely the modern set up downgrades being "champions" of your country.

know what your saying mate but it would cut the competition down to just a few games and therefore would not be the financial love egg that FIFA want. I think it's set up brilliantly now as more often than not the bigger teams get out of the group stages and set's up some wonderful knoick out football in the later rounds. Just this year we are looking at a possible Real V Barca semi final. Which incidentally would guarantee a Spanish giant in the final pmsl surely Blatter and his henchmen had something to do with that one

Perhaps a separate mini Tournament pitting the Champions from each Country together would be a better idea than say the World club cup.

Not really the 'champions' league though is it.. The trophy still says 'Coupe des Clubs Champions Europ?ens' but it's not is it.. Sorry but for me it still should only be made up of the champions from each of the European leagues, the previous years cup winner (if not already qualified) and the UEFA Cup winners.. Everyone else should be in the Europa League.. In the same way the Playoffs are a joke in the football league.. How can the team that finishes in 6th be promoted to the Premier League at the expense of the team in 3rd who may only be in 3rd due to goal difference

The new format is enjoyed by billions of fans throughout the world and is the most prestigious club competition is the world bar none.
Fact is, some owners/managers would prefer to win it rather than their own league!! (you know who they are)

Yes he is. Totally different player now from when he was at Rangers. He can certainly pick out a player with a range of passes plus with set-pieces included.

true but before it was just called the european cup there is nothing in the name that suggests it was about the winners of the league

It is only a name it doesnt really matter what it is called it is regarded in club football as the ELITE trophy
