    international football v club football

would you rather your team won for example the champions league or nation won the world cup? if you had a choice?

obviously pie in the sky for most folk on here unless your a Spaniard German or South American haha but if you had a choice ..

ill go for club team winning champions league?

      Club team.

International football is rubbish, most of the big tournaments are massive disappointments

Admittedly, I find nationalism absolutely idiotic, but even at that, it's crap

So if you are offering, I'll see you down in Wembley for the CL party

Your country should come 1st in any walk of life it's what gives us our sense of identity and winning the World Cup is far more prestigious for a player than winning the champions league.

Playing in the World Cup a whole nation gets behind the team and your national pride rises to the fore as long as you are in the tourney there is a certain togetherness and pride for everyone in the country.

Club footy for me all the way.

I've got no real interest in international games, I just want to watch my team play and do well.
After that, my family gets my time. Nationalistic pride doesn't come into it for me.

Club footy for me some of mee pals recount stories of bygone days when they talk about their journeys to watch the great rangers and Celtic teams of the past. Celtic in 67 and rangers in 72 albeit the cup winners cup. You don't really hear fans who follow international football going on about it in the same way do you.

Exactly mate, I was at Seville final and was one of the best sporting weeks I have had, the whole build up and being at a European final was immense.

When i was a young boy there was always stories of following Scotland all over the place and who can forget the great nights when Scotland were qualifying for the 74 and 78 world cups big joe jordans flying header against the czechs and his very own hand of god against wales in 77 and King Kenny's header in the same game all classic moments.

Also the 3-2 drubbing Scotland gave England after they had won the 66 world cup all classic moments that will never be forgotten

Also another unique moment happens when you board a bus to go and support Scotland you are sharing the bus with supporters of the old firm, imagine for the most part trying to do that going to a Rangers celtic game in each others buses just doesn't happen that often, mores the pity.

No doubt tho there has been some very memorable moments in club football as well and you will never forget them either, 1 thing for sure tho these days international football in Scotland especially takes 2nd place to club footy.

I wonder if that would still be the case if Scotland were a Brazil or Argentina or Germany or Italy where success comes pretty easy at times on the world stage.

Seems strange reading that, saying your incredibly proud being Scottish and loving seeing Andy Murray or the Scottish Rugby team doing well but not the Scottish Football team doesn't make sense that but takes all sorts i spose.

On a lighter note you sure you aint a Rangers man thats what you hear coming out of Ibrox nowadays about Scotland hope for you yet

I need to keep that memory as the day after i came home I was at the Killie game and as you know we lost the title that day too .

But still for winning nothing that season, its still been my best.

would be interesting to hear from more english folk as before i asked the question i half thought scots would be more club before country and england the other way ... might be wrong though
