John Terry banned and fined by FA over Anton Ferdinand incident

John Terry banned and fined by FA over Anton Ferdinand incident

Chelsea captain John Terry has been banned for four matches and fined ?220,000 for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.

The Football Association found Terry guilty following a four-day hearing.

A spokesman for Terry said the player was "disappointed" the FA had reached a "different conclusion" to the "not guilty verdict of a court of law".

In July, the ex-England captain, 31, was cleared by Westminster Magistrates' Court of racially abusing Ferdinand.

The Terry statement continued: "He has asked for the detailed written reasons of the decision and will consider them carefully before deciding whether to lodge an appeal."

Terry will have 14 days from receiving the written reasons to decide whether to lodge an appeal. The ban and fine will not come into effect until after the centre-half has decided what to do.

A statement from his club added: "Chelsea Football Club notes and respects today's decision by the Football Association regarding John Terry"

The FA were right but months too late. John Terry thought he was above the law himself so serves him right.

People have been jailed for racial abuse so he was lucky he didn't find himself in a cell either.

When you take away the right of free speech no matter what is said and you take one step closer to becoming communist. Even if you don't agree with the FA do you really think they hurt him with the amount of the fine and ban. I don't think so.

A find it really hard to have any sympathy for a guy who earns the money he does and conducts himself the way he does!
Its a changing game with a global audience, the Premiership is one of if not the best leagues in the world, it has huge investors stumping up millions in sponsorship and like it or not, racial abuse is a big no no.
Tbh it should be a big no no end of story, its 2012 not the 1970's, the terraces are full of families and kids who look up to Terry as a role model.
How could the FA let it go, a global sport with global brands and one of its star players shouting bl*** b******, Terry should know better and the best thing he could do is shut up, take it on the chin and be thankful he's in a job that pays him a bloody fortune.

As for the courts, well how many times have we saw crooks walk free in our lifetime, if you have tons of cash then you stand a much better chance of walking free.
The FA know this and they are not constrained by the same rules and regulations as the courts and they were never gonna let it go.
Its a bit like your work, you act like a di** you get fired, its very seldom the courts get involved and if they do its in the form of a tribunal which is very difficult to win.
Terry got was coming to him and hell mend him..

Yep, they are right. He was caught red-handed (or should that be foul-mouthed) live on TV racially abusing another player. It's not as if nobody noticed him doing it!

He shouldn't be thinking of appealing though, he should take his punishment like a man and not hide behind his lawyer(s) like a frightened mouse.

I wonder if there's any pics with John Terry and the Show Racism the Red Card campaign

I saw that match and I could not understand how people can read the lips or take the matter to court without concrete evidence?.

So, big JT banned by the FA's "Independent" panel with 99.5% conviction rates. I wouldn't say it's a kangaroo court but the Chairman's son is called Joey.

To call someone a "****ing bridge ****" is entirely plausible. "That's right mate, you're as big of **** as Wayne Bridge. One of the worst left backs this island has ever produced. A total muppet of a human being".

Hopefully JT will get redemption as a futrue England Manager and lead us to glory.
