Sadly i have to agree. I think Man utd are responsible for the demise of the fa cup. They treated it with contempt by dropping out to go and play some glorified charity shield game in Brazil.
They put their own commercial needs before the most famous trophy in the world. They were holders at the time IIRC. Then they started fielding reserves in the fa cup and treating it the same way as the league cup. Sadly Arsenal then Liverpool followed suit and that was the end of the legendary fa cup as we know it.
The fa must shoulder blame too.It used to be every footballers dream to play at wembley in the fa cup final. Sadly these muppets now play the semi final there , play offs and any other money making scheme they can raise. Which again shows the game is a busines now and not a sport.
I wish we coulld have those great days back but they're gone forever.

the simple fact is european football is now the holy grail for teams and thier managers,to clubs fighting relegation premier league survival is more important than winning the f.a. cup which is why the magic has gone from the fa cup

the premier league is by far and away the biggest trophy in domestic football but if you go back a few year the fa cup was nearly on a par with a league title as a trophy for merit

part of the problem is we get too much football on tv nowadays where as years ago it was more treasured because it was a rarer event,now people dont look forward to a cup run as they used to they are waiting for the next champions league game or pl league game

i could name every winner of the fa cup from the 70's onwards but barring the my own team i couldnt tell you who won the last 10-15 and most other people i know are the same

england are going the same way as the fa cup too barring the world cup or euro championships most people hate these international breaks as they disrupt the club football

simple fact there is too much football so people are pickier about what they view

NO ITS ALL MAN UTD'S FAULT.... but seriously you are right.. Chelsea have won this years cup.. Years ago this would have been seen as a good season.. but its not.. Chelsea will view anything other than the League/Champions League as a failure..

As will the rest of the top 4.. outside of Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea & Arsenal the FA Cup and League Cup still dictate a good season..

To be honest its not that big now, it probably means as much to us now as the Cup has always done on the continent to the top teams.. ~~~~ all
