    alonso asks for tranfer

looks like alonso's off to madrid according to reports he's handed in a transfer request which is really diappointing i thought he would have given us another season seeing how close we are to at least putting in a proper challenge for the prem 'how do madrid get away with courting every top player through the media and nothing is said if it was an english club blatter and platini would be up in arms'.

seeing as he was going to be replaced by Barry last summer I don't blame him. Think this is a bigger loss for Liverpool than most people would be led to believe

I don't think anyones under any illusions about Alonso's value to the team. I think we're stepping backwards and we are goingto be a weaker squad than last season, barring a last minute big name signing or Two.
Will be sorry to see him go and wish him all the luck in the world.

        THE TRUTH
        The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

If he wants to go then let him.. it will be a massive loss.., but like Ronaldo and Man Utd once again loyalty is in question.. Like Ronaldo, Alonso was a nobody when he came to England..

As long as we get ?30m he can shut the door on his way out.. adios

never heard you say this when they were going after ronaldo

i personally dont blame him, yous were going to ~~~~ him off last season if you's got barry, but that fell through so suddenly rafa wanted him....and as a player if possibly the biggest club in the world came knocking on your door you would have to not be right in the head to turn them down

yes fellow reds, this is indeed sad news for us as xabi has a great footballing mind and skill, but the deal is not yet done! We must hold heart in Dalglish being back on the firm and the array of other great players we have in the squad.
                    In Rafa we Trust.

Have to agree with krazylegz on this one, no player can be faulted for a change of club especially when it's the biggest club in world football (and in this particular case a return to the home country), but the fact of the matter is that you would all have done the same thing if it was you in Alonso's position and anyone that says otherwise is either lying or deliberately not putting themselves in that position.

I cannot fault Alonso, especially when this time last year he was on the chopping block until the Barry deal fell through - then he was one of Liverpool's key performers last season - people talk about player loyalty well it's obvious there is none except in the rarest of circumstances (Ryan Giggs Man U, Gary Kelly Leeds etc) so 1 club players are a complete rarity these days, but what of club loyalty ? Frankly it's Liverpool's karma repeating on them, but then ?30 million or whatever is hardly to be sniffed at.

I just fear that instead of being thanked for his performances and contributions over the years and being given a heroes exit he may well end up being made public enemy number one, but then it's no skin off my nose except to say it would be highly hypocritical for a start and under these particular circumstances I don't think anyone can or should blame Alonso at all.

I do wonder who they will replace him with though, or who they will spend their ?30 million on.....obviously Villa/Torres partnership up front would be ideal - might be abit dangerous for the World Cup though with those two solidifying an understanding every week!

i take your point mate but its still frustrating for the supporters we never wanted xabi to go last year and if you asked him i'm sure he'd say we were 100%behind him staying barry isn't half the player hopefully we can spend the money on a top class replacement, butwho?

Rafa can't complain he wanted him out of the door last season, alonso showed what a good pro he was by having an outstanding season despite knowing he was dispensable for Barry. As with Robbie Keane who given more time would of been a success Rafa needs to give out a bit more TLC.
