Alonso is a brilliant player, but really do they need to replace him ? They already have Mascherano (for now) and Gerrard for the 2 first team choice center midfielders, I'd say if anything they need a good, pacey right winger and obviously another top class striker, one that works well with Torres. Easier said than done, so maybe they might just stick with Gerrard upfront just behind Torres and buy another center midfielder aswell as a winger, not sure who though!

Can a Liverpool supporter answer me this honestly without sarcasm - what on earth possessed Rafa Benitez to flog Riise? Old news for sure but for me he was one of the best attacking left backs in the Premiership if not the best especially as a genuine goal threat, not least of which Man U fans don't need to tell you about his rocket shots

Riise had gone past his peak with us.. In his final two seasons his passes completed ratio was abysmal, he had no desire to 'pull one out the bag' anymore, he was too often, found missing in defence once the attack had broken down and he had no desire to tackle..

I will always remeber his free kick at the Anfield Road end against Man Utd and the cross he put in for Gerrard to head the first come back goal in Istanbul.. He said himself he had become 'stale' at Anfield..

His own goal in the Champions League semi final of 2008 was a nightmare.. he should have put his boot through it and kicked into Block 306 of the Kop.. it was a sign of bad decision making, he chose to head it.. Anelka had put the willies up him, i think that was the begining of the end for him.. it showed his footballing brain wasnt as sharp as it once was

I think Riise was a good player for Liverpool but his last couple of seasons he went backwards.I think it was the right descision to sell him when we did. I did say at the time though that when we sold Risse and Finan we replaced them with Two players who IMO were no better than those we had just sold. One of them has gone already.

          The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

who would you be eyeing up as a replacment? It just seems to me that while I have no doubt that technically Mr Benitez is a skilled manager, his dealings with his key players aren't the best. What with the whole Alonso saga of last summer coming back to bite and the mess that was the Keane signing.

I have no doubt Liverpool will do well next season... as I can see some of those draws happening again this season.

it should be very intersting next season as Ronaldo was worth well in excess of 12 points a season to Man Utd...

As long as Mascherano stays fit the loss will be managed

xabi had a great season last season but the fact of the matter is he was quite poor the season before last i think thats why rafa tried to move him on, maybe thats what it needed for him to improve
