Mate, United already are the most successful team in English football. 18 & 18 for league titles, but then look at the next prestigious trophy, the FA Cup. In fact the FA Cup was always the biggest prize before all the foundation of the Premier League / Champions League. The money involved in the 2 competitions shifted the emphasis a lot.

I never said the premiership is when football started, nor did I imply it. What I am saying is that the Premier League is more important now than the Football League was before the inception of the Premier League.

I don't know why you're having a go at me about the league cup since I never mentioned it. But since you mentioned it then yes it is shit. It's a minor trophy but still a trophy which leads to a place in the EURO league or whatever its called now. Winning it is ok but nothing to get over excited about unless you're a small club.

If you don't know the difference between the FA Cup and the League Cup then you clearly know nothing about football or your knowledge is so seriously flawed that your opinion is irrelevant, but in an attempt to educate you so you can participate in the converstation here goes:

It was introduced to give clubs a competition to play for, prior to this they only played friendlies. The League Cup was introduced during the 50s when floodlights were introduced to generate extra revenue for clubs as they now could play weekday nights. It has traditionally been treated as training excersize by the big clubs by giving youngsters some first-team experience.

i am not having a go at you for what you said, but for what you implied about the prem. if you win the prem, you can win the the c.l the next season.. ok..if you finish 4th, you can win the c.l the next season. yes...we did, you did. so is the prem any better now than when you had to be champs to get into the e.cup. also how can you say that finishing 5th and winning the europa cup is being a small club? would you say benfica are a small club?
the difference between the fa and lc is that matlock town could in theory win the fa cup, but not the l.cup, cos they are not in the league....
btw, my football knowledge is far superior to most other people on this forum.. been proved many times....

you misunderstood my comment. I wasn't saying winning the EURO League was nothing to get excited about - that comment was aimed at winning to League Cup
