there is some truth in the above statement,,utd could never cut it like barca or arsenal,,,madrid and milan and ajax im not so sure
true they have had and still have great players at united,but when it comes to moving a ball around the park with style and panache then arsenal on there day are untouchable,,barca well i dont think i have to say too much about them,,,iniesta xavi messi etc are the epitomy of how a ball should be passed around without a shadow of a doubt,,,they make it look so easy and that is the way to play footy,,make it look easy with plenty of style
and score a few goals on the way

United "were" well up there when they had the players and to say they weren't I think is just plain silly, granted they are shite the last few seasons, somethings missing. But I'm sure we'll get it back again. You've got to be referring to the lesson Barca gave utd in the c/l final, don't forget, they also gave arsenal a lesson. I do appreciate arsenal can play nice football, but thats not worth a shite if there's no end product. And as for Barca, no one can rival them, they are to put it simply "great".

I think you're right mate. Barca and Ajax (in there day) play a pass and move one and two touch game that is so, so easy on the eye and is the beautiful game. To be fair to those two clubs, I think they are the only two that have played that way and been sucessful with it. Arsenal try, but can't win trophies, Milan didn't play that way and Real I think have always played attacking football with runners, like a cross between United and the total passing game.

Personally I think you must be mad to say that United's 2 recent European cup winning teams were not exciting. Flying down the wings, high tempo movement of the ball and players off the ball..Great to watch!

where did i say the recent 2 european winning cup teams werent exciting ?
in 09 they were taught a serious lesson in the game by barca and in particular messi
the 98-99 season treble was amazing in itself,and yes they were exciting to watch,as i previously said im not saying united never play exciting football,they never give up and always play to the final whistle even if that final whistle is extended more than it should at old trafford in particular
