HOW TO STOP DIVING IN FOOTBALL

Diving in football to me is the single most dishonest thing a footballer can do and they all do it. So i would like to ask everyone what would you do to stop it.

I think each leagues football association should watch video of each game and when they see a player deceive the referee cause he was diving they should fine and issue a yellow card to that player. I think these measures would stop it.

I'm all in favour of goal line technology and the use of video replay to be honest..... it works in rugby, cricket....... the time that is wasted by the ref telling gobshite players to go away after virtually all major decisions could be settled by the fourth official looking at a replay and relaying that info to the ref, even better still put it on the big screens for all to see.... if the player blatantly cheats give him a red card, 3 match ban and a big fine....it would then be in the clubs interest to cull this 'tactic' as they would lose so many players. If me or you where caught cheating in our chosen professions we would be punished wouldn't we?

The only problem is where do you draw the line in regards to what leagues use it as the lower league clubs might not have the funds to implement it?

It's got that prolific in football I stopped watching as it spoiltthe sport for me.

Spot on for me mate. Retrospective action taken against divers and those who feign injury to get others players sent off. 3 match ban sounds good or you could even take it to 5?! Some of these incidents unfortunately win games and if it's a big 3 points I can see the player getting several pats on the back from his fellow players and manager..

Video technology is the only way, it would take a few seconds to review any controversial issues. But would also help the refs, after all they are only human.

Video replays to fine players/clubs will only work if there is no doubt the player tried to deceive the ref.
Take the Berbatov incident Sunday v Liverpool, Contact WAS made no matter how minimal, and yes he made the most of it!!
So how does a video replay determine whether or not that minimal contact was enough to bring down the player??
It will only work in my opinion in a situation like eduardo's dive v Celtic when it was plainly obvious that zero contact was made.

Video technology dont work. Its been proven in the rugby world cup. I heard an idea somewhere, maybe a sports writer, cant remember, but the idea works like this.
Player goes down, opposition says he dived. Ref asks him if he did, player says no. AFTER the game, the incident is reviewed, by a panel of ex-players/coaches/refs etc. If they decide it WAS a dive, that player is banned for 3 matches. If when asked by a ref, a diver owns up, play goes on with a goal kick

It is very simple ... complete season bans for REPEAT OFFENDERS with a club fine on top that actually surpasses the players wages for a change not just a measly 10% or so, and a clause that the offender can not be sold or loaned to another club. Sounds harsh I know but implement that rule and immediately it will have an impact.
United, Chelsea and Arsenal would never finish top four on a regular basis and probably be beaten by 'lesser' teams who arrive in to the premiership not used to the 'bullying' and cheating tactics.

Also, I think that penalties should not count towards a players season's tally, let the Goalkeepers take all penalties.

Shooting them is going a bit too far but I can't see castrating the ~~~~ers one testy at a time being a problem

Video replay won't work since it will slow the one thing that makes football great the pace of the game. No matter what you can't get all of them but you could sure catch and fine a player like Shawn Wright Phillps for the no contact dive he did ( Can't remember the game it was in ) I think no matter what if something is done they will think twice and stop teaching it in South America
