l have 5.1 on my iphone4 and lots of apps , jailbroke ones and iblacklist , can l upgrade to 6.01.2 and keep my apps ? ie install the new jailbreak and my app will just be there and work again ?

or as its working fine just leave it ?

Well you can do backup of all jb apps and hope that all of them are working after with iOS 6.1

First you would need to update iOS to 6.1 and in case that everything works out of box you will get possibility to do 6.1 backup after and which you will have everything like you have now with exception of apps that don't have 6.1 support, BUT!!

There is always but. You cannot restore 5.1 backup to 6.1 iOS, which means that you will in case of problems have to re install everything again, if you have backup of your apps in iTunes then it will be a bit easier, but still, you will have to re install everything.

Golden rule, if it's working, don't fix it.

Use iTunes and BACKUP your iPhone.....
Make sure your running the latest version of iTunes then download and update your iPhone to 6.1.2 firmware.
When complete setup iPhone as "new"...
At this point run the evasi0n jailbreak.
Once jailbroken restore any backed up music, apps, phone data from iTunes.
Now reload all compatible Cydia apps/tweaks onto iPhone.

You can't restore backup from 5.1 to 6.1, iTunes won't allow you to do that. That's why I have suggested to update phone first without restoring if possible.

Check your facts.... ITunes will allow a backup of data from 5.1 to 6.x.x....

That's the whole point of a "backup"....

backup yes, restore on different iOS version no, although don't know if it goes from lower version to higher, but from higher to lower no, been there, done that, couldn't restore my backup with messages, pictures, etc.

you can try by yourself if you have blobs of older version, create backup with 6.1 and try to restore it to 5.1

Well let's say that I'm jailbreaking since iPhone 3G upwards so no need for low punches

I stand corrected. All backups are future proof with newer versions of iOS.

My situation was that I had beta installed and tried to go to the stable version before it and couldn't restore backup because it was created by newer version of iOS.

So they are future proof but not backward compatible

just about to update to ios 6 and jb my phone,,,i tunes is prompting me to update itunes to 11.0.2
i take it this wont affect the evasion jb ?
as always any info much appreciated
