Hey guys.
I have expirenced that my iPhone 3GS while charging was stuck at the boot screen (the "Appel") The phone was warm, and i could not reset it or shut it off.
Backing up at this point is history, and the solution is not as usually to put in into DFU mode (or yes it is, but it will not work doing it the usual way..). You have to hold the home and the power button pressed, an do not release ANY of the buttons, even after the iPhone switces back on, after a little while (up to 30 seconds) you will get the "Connect to itunes" symbol.. Now you can start re-installing the firmware through iTunes.
And remember to make backups once in a while... (bitter experince...)
