help with iphone please

hi guys picked up an iphone that i found last year from the cop shop today (was never clamed) and would like to know is there anything i can do with it ?????

1 it is locked to a uk net work t-mobile (found in ireland )
2 in has a screen lock on it
3 i tryed to do a reset in itunes and after 5mins i get an error 1601

or is the phone just scrap ???

Google is your friend it's an iTunes problem but before you go any further what model iPhone is it and what firmware is on it ?

error1601 usually means a corrupt iTunes install...delete itunes and reinstall the newest itunes available.
or do a google search on bypassing iphone screen lock....there are loads of write up on the subject.

have tryed the new itunes m8 with still no joy also tryed on other pc still no joy as for model number its a1303 looks like the 2008 model 16gb its also 3gs, cant tell what software is on it cant get into it, have also tryed the emergency call trick to buy pass the locked screen with no joy, so fare google's not my friend

thanks m8 i did everything that is there uninstalled itunes reinstalled the latest itunes from there site and i still get the error 1601 after 5mins and the iphone just goes white

? no idea then ,, the other thing is .. my son in law lost his iphone in a cab before xmas and got the sim turned off ,, then last week the taxi place found it , he had a new card sent out before they returned it and than one didnt work , phoned orange and they said they have locked phone even tho its wasnt the phone he had on contract , they said there system knows if a sims in an iphone and blocks ime number so phones are usless

Use a different PC & download the firmware from here.

Follow the instructions for putting the phone into DFU from here

When you connect it to the PC it should bring up Itunes & tell you it needs restoring. Press the 'SHIFT' key while clicking on the restore button, select the downloaded firmware & restore.

With any luck it should go through. Just make sure there's loads of charge in the battery.

Taking it works you will then be able to Jailbreak & unlock it with Redsnow & Ultrasn0w...details can be found in the Unlocking Iphone thread. Once unlocked the iphone will work outside of the host network country, so if it's a UK phone, it will work outside of the UK.

ok guys after playing around all night still not got this to work log into itunes on my laptop and was doing a restore for about 10-15 mins and after that all i got was a error 20000 when itunes found the phone it said the phone is pass locked please enter code

There is a prog out to remove pass lock, sure I spotted it over at sinfuliphone.com m8.

You can only restore from the computer the iPhone was last sync'd with. But there are ways around this. Stick the phone into DFU mode and restore etc. From another forum look on YouTube for dfu how to


Ld be amazed if this phone isn't blocked if the guys locked it
