    Blocked IMEI??.. Or something else??

I can't work out if my IMEI is blocked or not.

Have baseband updated to 6.15.0 with Redsnow, then jailbroke using greenpoison RC6 and then the ultrasnow unlock.

Thing is I only have 2 sim cards to try with it an O2 and Vodafone(I'm assuming the phone was locked to O2).. so before I did the above the vodafone name never use to come up on the phone corner(just searching, then no service), but now it does, so something seems right. But no signal and it won't stay on it(the name), keeps going to "no service" and telling me "the network carrier you have selected is restricted" when I'm going through menus, and selecting a carrier

So has ultrasnow done its thing or not? I can't understand why it keeps bickering me when I'm picking a carrier. It tells me its restricted even though I just press DISMISS and contiune. the name comes up sometimes but the bars are all flat and 1 only rises when I turn 3G on and off, then it goes back down to flat again... then eventually it will say "no service" again

Sometimes I get a message on the homescreen saying "Activating- this may take some time" but I just press dismiss. What does that mean? I have tried all the usual stuff seen on youtube like turning airplane mode on and off and taking sim in and out and have even re installed ultrasnow. but its the same everytime... the sim cards I have are about 3yrs old but still work in normal phones, any chance that may be the prob?

Anyone know if this is normal for a blocked phone? But why won't it atleast stay on the carrier name and just not give me a signal? And why does it keep telling me that the carrier is restricted? If the phone is now unlocked doesn't that mean it jumps carriers without warnings.

My mate in Aus is gonna line up a swap for me, but I don't really know what the craic is with it . I don't wanna swap if the antenna may be broke, maybe thats whats doing it., But then, it does pick up the carrier name, so....

Anyone know whats happening, it's doing my head in testing all these methods to fix it but with the same outcome.

    Cheers

Think when it says activate you should do it, then you should be open to other sims...

Sounds like it has been unlocked. But it could be an antenna fault since it seems to jump around a bit.

The quickest way to check if it's been blocked is to call your network. Ask them for an IMEI check for blacklisting. If they ask you why just advise them you're thinking of buying it & want to check before hand.

If the back case has been changed I'd be looking straight at the antenna. It's just a thin ribbon stuck to the case near the battery.

It would also help if you can confirm the original network. If you activate the handset with anything other than the original carrier SIM you can have problems, battery issues if I remember correctly.

Presumed you meant it said activate on 02 if it is and that is the original carrier then activate then try other sim...if it doesn't activate quickly then could be antenna

          Thanks for the replies

Canker - I was gonna phone up and check the IMEI, but I was too afraid they would ask too many questions and probably ban it anyway if I couldn;t answer them properly or something.

Micky - Only when I restart the phone with a sim card in it it gives me the "Please wait Activating- this may take some time" on the home screen I cant do anything apart from press the big DISMISS button, and I have tried leaving it and nothing happens and says "no service" anyway. Only when I do the airplane on/off and take out the sim and put it back in again I will get 4 flat bars with 1 slighty raised, but with no carrier name beside them.. then it either goes to "no service" again or name will come up with flat bars then goes to no service after 2 mins or so.

But what exactly do you mean "activate with O2"?.. I have tried it plugged into pc with itunes open and it still just comes up with the normal iphone sync'ed. Nothing happens automatically and I can't see any option to start an activation process or anything... shouldn't the sim card work if its already on their network and being used in another phone already?

Do you think I should do the whole deactivation process thing?Where the phone just shows the itunes and sync cable logo.. or is that just to get the iphone on itunes?

Also another thing I should mention is only the O2 simcard shows its "My number"(sim card phone number)..the vodafone doesn't.. when I try to make a request using any of the 2 cards to see balance it comes up straight away with message saying "error no network"

Also when I switch 3G on with the vodafone sim card in it, it comes up 3G beside carrier name on corner of screen but then it goes to a small blue circle for awhile, then a blue E.. and also The "Three(3)" carrier comes up in under carriers list.. would that mean the antenna is OK if its detecting that when 3G is on?

And also when the vodaphone sim is in and I go to network setting and turn on cellular data it comes up internet tethering and the icon doesn't stop loading(as if its trying to connect to something). And it still does this when sim is removed but is still on the vodafone carrier.. it doesn't do this at all with cellular data on with the O2 simcard.

Soooo sorry I missed this I am a novice when being a forum user, believe it or not anyway blah blah and sorry pal

Think that u know what your doing
And could be a compatability issue of jailbreaks maybe.using redsnow then Greenpiosen rc6 which are both jb's arn't they and on the redsnow you used install 's cydia by option, then use ultrasnow etc...to unlock

My suggestion would be to start again with redsnow and install cydia ----then go ultrasnow...

Have you checked your on baseband 6.15 ?

Remember to put original sim in when your done and ACTIVATE, then choose what sim you want after m8

              Ps: start again , n soz m8

Hey no probs micky.. thanks for the help mate

Yeah, the first thing I did was update the baseband with Redsnow and I did leave the box "install cydia" checked because I really done the whole thing on the spare of the moment and was following a tut from youtube and just done exactly what the guy did. I did check afterwards and it did install cydia and baseband was updated(had the running pineapple on the screen), so then I did the.greenpoison jailbreak over the top of it. And now thinking about it, there was no loader app because cydia was already there from redsnow thing, but greenpoison is on it because I have the skull apple logo thing at bootup.. so you think maybe thats whats glitching it then?

I will try going the Redsnow route and see if that helps it

                Cheers mate
