DS Firmware (for R4 card & copies) HELP!!!

Hi peeps

Can anyone help me here, im looking to update my R4 (or whichever version it is!).

I have worked out that I do not have a genuine R4 as the firmware from their site freezes on loading. Ive been looking for an alternative (tried yours DiddyDave, no luck, thanks anyway!) but have not found one that works.

On the other hand, I have found an older one (one that doesnt play newer games) that works. The file name i downloaded is RII_v1.18_English.

Unfortunately, my card has no sticker on and ive lost the box. Can anyone work out from the info above which type of firmware i should be using? Im desperate to play GTA Chinatown!

My son (8yo) uses an R4 card that takes the 1.18 software from R4 DS Firmware Update,R4DS kernel Download-www.r4ds.com He cant use some games like train your dragon. any ideas on how I can update the card for him?

Hi your card is running the most upto date firmware for your card, however it is a very old not supported anymore, you could have a look here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...52/index9.html or invest in a newer better card . M

Also when i try to download thosefileson the tutorial, I only get a blank page. sorry for being such a noob, but what am i doing wrong. this appens either if I click the link or try to save as. also does the same in IE & firefox

you should be able to find firmware for your card here. alot of the newer games will not work with it. if you search hard enough you can find roms already patched, which will work on your card. its a bit of a hit and a miss though....

acekards are supposed to be better than r4 cards.
not tried one myself, but if i was buying a new card, i would give them a go...

I have both r4/ acekard2i and acekard are newer and got loads of support check out there site or if anywhere near manchestersaturdays bowlers is the place to get em. M

how much are acekards? do they work well with dsi?
