    Woo Yoo.
I swapped my wii with a friend who didn't want to mod his, and it worked a treat.

The last step (cIOS36/boot.dol) had an error message come up, but it still worked. I have played a backup of Mario Galaxy.

    Is this last step essential?

Thanks to Drawflex and Dell_xps for this excellent thread.
    You guys rock.

Can I use the softmod if my wii had firmware v3.1?

I mean do I have to update it to a later firmware first then downgrade it or can I just use the twilight hack on the v3.1 and update it to 3.2??

        Many thanks

            Hi,

I'm also having this problem - get an error message saying something along the lines of "(ret -1)" even when running this newer version.

            Any ideas??

Tried adding a new folder on the SD card in the Apps folder, but no joy.

So tried emptying the "8. " folder under Apps and putting it in there, but it didn't show in the homebrew menu.

So I renamed the file "boot.dat", keeping it in the "8. " folder, which then ran it, but gave the error message :-(

OK do what your doing but inside the folder rename it to boot.dol , see if that works, should ask if you want to install from network.
                  Let me know m8.

Good man - cheers bud, worked a treat! :-)

I had it installing from WAD, not network...

I did rename the file "boot.dol" - the dat bit was a typo on my part sorry (too many mis-spent years fiddling about with dos!)

Sorry - just one more point...

I've not installed any other program at all, other than what's on the guide.

                              My wii is PAL.

If I want to play an NTSC game, do I need to install anything else?

Some might run, if not install Gecko 1.7B using the homebrew channel and use your SD to launch it m8, as per PM.
