Wii backup manager will load iso ciso and wbfs files to any format of drive. If you format to wbfs you will only be able to store wii games on it and won't be able to see or modify any of the drive content on a pc. If you format to fat 32 you will be able to store all your apps and games and films. When using wii backup manager all your game files that are iso will be converted to .wbfs and stored in a wbfs folder on your fat 32 partition. As keith says and was almost right iso files are 4.38gb if single layer games, but will be much smaller once converted to .wbfs the wbfs file is not a compressed iso it is the true size of the game as all the unnecessary zeros that make it dvd size have been scrubbed along with the update partition if there was one on the game that would have updated the wii system version. Another reason to use hdd instead of disc. Sorry for butting in on your reply keith but I thought I would explain the reason for wbfs files being a different size to iso

Welcome to DK.
I have problems getting WAD Manager 1.5 and 1.7 working but Multi-Mod Manager(MMM) 13.4 always works for me.
List the wads your trying to install because they have to be installed in the correct order else they won't install?Keith

Welcome to DK.
All the tutorials are on here in different threads if you browse or search.
The first thing you can do is softmod your Wii using LetterBomb as you don't need a game disc with 4.3 Wii's anymore. You will need your Wii connected to the internet for this to work.
Start your Wii up and click on Wii Options bottom left and Wii Settings then Internet then Console Information. Write down the MAC address as you need to type that into the LetterBomb site so it will send you the message.
You need to buy a 2GB SD card not an SDHC card even though 4.0+ Wii's can use them, format it FAT32 in Windows and add all files inside Letterbomb.zip onto the card. Insert the SD card in the Wii and click on Wii messages and click back a few days until you see the read envelope and click on that and follow the softmod instructions. You won't see the red envelope unless the SD card is inserted with the LetterBomd files on it.
You must do all 3 options.
1. Install Homebrew.
2. Install BootMii.
3. Prepare SD card - this is so you can do a NAND backup straight after you have softmodded, don't miss this part.
Once its softmodded come back and I'll give you more instructions. Don't experiment until you know what your doing?Keith

Welcome to DK.
Well if you Google for guides then there will be things missing. The thing is if you Google for anything you compare what is said on the sites. Anyway this isn't a Google lesson.
What Prepare SD card does is write a [bootmii] folder on the SD card with 2 files in there, armboot.bin and ppcboot.elf. You could either run softmod but only choose Prepare SD card or you can download ModMii and run that from Windows. There is an option in there that makes this folder and files but I can't of hand tell you which one as the menus are a bit confusing. It download all files selected and put them in a COPY_TO_SD sub folder so you just copy the [bootmii] folder to the SD card. Put the SD card back in the Wii, run Homebrew the exit backout and choose Launch BootMii and follow the instructions in NAND backup I posted. Make sure you have enough free space on the card at least 600kb.
What the NAND backup does is make a copy of the Wii memory/settings and writes 2 files on the SD card, keys.bin and nand.bin. These used to be on the root of the SD card but later ones put all files and folder into a wii backup folder. Save these files an folder somewhere very safe not on the SD as someone can accidentally delete them.
If you've been softmodded for a while then you've install all sorts of wads and apps so it will save these. Thats why you do a NAND backup straight after you've softmodded.
Now it your Wii did become bricked it my not even startup to put the NAND back this is where PriiLoader 0.7 comes in as it should run when you press the Reset button so you can choose BootMii to restore the NAND. Lets hope you've installed PriiLoader as part of the tutorial you followed? You can also block online and disc updates with PriiLoader.
If you Wii is running ok thats great but you could post a sysCheck report as instructed in that link so we can see your system and which wads you have installed.
I hope these instructions were simple enough for you, if not ask before you cock things up?Keith

I've managed to do the bootmii and nand is all backed up now and saved on my laptop. Not done priloader tho, my wii is 4.3e and theres no option past 4.2 does this make a difference? I'm confused as hell.
I originally started all this yesterday by paying for and downloading "consoleunlock" followed all their instructions for downloading the ISO files etc and then when i put the sd card in the wii it didnt recognise it. So i found this page and have managed to now get homebrew set up and have followed the instructions for bootmii and nand and can download games from wiibrew onto the sd card. But i dont get how i get other games onto it, either burnt onto a disc or via an external hard drive. Also what should be on my SD card?
Thank you

So you've mangaged to do a NAND backup now you have the [bootmii] folder on the SD card?
Providing you have installed the correct wads that why we need to see the sysCheck report.
What do you mean there is no option past 4.2? ModMii shows all versions.
You install PriiLoader from Homebrew. Ignore the error saying can't find password file. After its installed go back to the Wii menu and press the Reset button for a second or two that should show the PriiLoader options. Block online and disc updates and you can remove the annoying 'A' safety prompt on startup.
Now you may as well forget burning games to discs as that will depend on the age of your Wii. Plus your going to have to buy quality DVD's and store all these games somewhere. After 2009 they chipped the Wii so you can't play burnt games. Find youself a compatible mains powered external USB HDD and add your games onto it. There are various ways to do this but I'll talk about that later.Keith

I have the bootmii file on my sd card and laptop.
Ive done the syscheck on my wii and it said it was completed but theres no option for the priiloader just syscheck on the screen, which i added into apps folder on the sd card but theres no hacks.ini file in it, like it says i need on here, to add to the root of the card.Comment

Well I can't make instructions any simpler. Download sysCheck. If you open the file with WinZip you will see there are 3 files boot.dol, icon.png, meta.xml inside apps\syscheck folder. Just extract all files to the SD card. Look on the SD card inside the apps folder you should see a syscheck folder with those 3 files inside.
Put the SD card back in the Wii. Run Homebrew and look for sysCheck and load it. Press 'A' to check all wads. This will save a sysCheck.csv file on the root of the SD card. Open this file with WordPad not NotePad and copy and paste the contents into a new reply.
Simple.Keith
