Yes it is on the compatability list and I have used both ports. It was formatted and games was loaded by WBFS manager not sure what format this is. I'll try Wii Backup Manager and format as fat32.

you will need a folder called wbfs on the fat32 drive to install the games into. wii backup manager should do that for you.

Yes there is a folder called wbfs with a game in it. If I understand what you mean as a caddy it is in a caddy. It's a WD my passport.

a caddy is a shell you put the hdd in if you use one from a pc or such like
you will need to check again in the previous link to see if that type of caddy is also compatible if its in one

Oh I don't put it into a case so it can't be in a caddy. My HDD: 250gb WD My Passport Essential is defintely on the list.

None of those loaders worked. If you feel that my set up is fine then I think I should give up on using this HDD and try and use a different one. Thanks for your help so far...I may be back.

I have now tried a different HDD which is also on the compatible drive list and I'm still having no luck. Any ideas?

try using modmii to get all up to date files
                          Digital Kaos - Downloads - modmii 4.3.4
                          you have 3 options

Sorry to put a downer on this thread but even if your 250gb WD My Passport Essential is in the compatible list very few passport drives are. I would recommend you get a powered external hard drive.

There is another list if you want to check that one? USB Compatibility List, don't just go for the list on page 1 as users add there own compatible drives as you scroll there each page.

Your sysCheck looks ok to me so all the 3 the USB Loaders should work.

I have a newer sysCheck b17 There is a newer sysCheckb18 out now but there isn't much difference. B17 will show you when the drive was made but if your playing burnt games with NeoGamma that doesn't really matter to you.

As you may have realised its going to be cheaper to use an external HDD rather than buying expensive DVD+R discs just to play games.

Just for a quick check you could add one game onto a big enough USB flash drive just to make sure it works. If it does work then you drive isn't compatible. As mensioned you must use the correct USB port the one nearest the edge on the Wii console.

Are you running USB Loader GX from HBC or a forwarder channel?

Your sysCheck is similar to mine and I've been using all 3 USB Loaders for the past 12 months so it still sounds like a drive incompatibility problem. You could try the other two USB Loaders just to see if those work, CFG USB Loader and WiiFlow
                            Keith

Wii 4.3E, USB Loader GX, CFG USB Loader, WiiFlow

I am of the same opinion as keith.....Usb powered drives are very hit and miss,,, the problem is not with the drive it is with the wii, for some reason not all wii's produce enough power from the usb port. Don't know why some do and some don't but it makes usb powered drives very unreliable, you should always go for mains powered.
