Post a new sysCheck to make sure everything is installed as it should be?

Is your drive compatiible, self powered USB drives aren't recommended even though they are cheap and powered from the USB port.

How have you formatted the drive and what games have you added to it and by which means?

An external drive will only work in the USB port nearest the bottom/edge it depends if its flat or vertical.

Well that sysCheck looks ok so its still down to the drive how its formatted and loaded with games.

Can you explain what you formatted it with and how your loaded your games?

i been trying to help pudzy privately...

all his games are iso's in individual folders on a ntfs drive..

is there any easy way he can sort it out?

Yes mate use wiibackup manager to extract them all into pc as wbfs as they are smaller in that format then format hd to fat 32 and transfer them back. Only way to do it safely. Or partition the hdd and put first partition as fat 32 (hoping the games don't get split between partitions) then use wiibackup manager to to transfer iso's to fat 32 partition (if they are still there) they will be changed from iso to wbfs automatically. If you go for first option which I would recommend you will then be able to drag and drop the whole wbfs folder that will be created on pc.If that sounds to complicated just copy them to another drive on pc as the iso files they are then format wii drive to fat 32 and add the games using wiibackup manager.

his wii drive is full so i don't know if he would have the room on another drive...

i have the same "backups " as him, easier to clone my drive..

Don't forget if you pull them of the drive as wbfs files he will only need about half the space they are taking up now

So will Wii Backup Manager extract and save files of a wbfs drive as a wbfs file?

I've tried converting iso to wbfs with Wii Game Converter GXS but the wbfs file isn't as small as the original wbfs.
