USB Loaders do not detect my USB Flashdrive.

Hey everyone. A couple of days ago I followed a simple youtube guide on getting Homebrew on my Wii. This guide came with a hack pack ready to be used and installed alongside the HBC. After installing Homebrew and these other programs successfully, I got an iso for a wii game put on my USB to be used with USB Loader GX. I followed several guides and troubleshooters to get it to work to no avail. So I come here today to plead to anyone who can help me get my Wii to recognize my usb so I can start playing again. If any information is needed, I'm here to give it. Thank you so much for your time.

I need to know whats on your system so post a sysCkeck19 report as instructed in that link so I can see which IOS's you have installed.

USB flash drives aren't really suitable for running Wii games of as they aren't big enough. Get yourself a compatible mains powered USB external hard drive.

You don't just add an iso file to a drive they have to be in the correct folder name and the correct file format normally *.wbfs unless you use WBFS Manager.

My flashdrive is 8gb and is compatible with the Wii. I don't really have the funds to get a new one right now.

And I used WFBS Manager 3.0 to put the iso on the flashdrive.

There doesn't look alot wrong with that sysCheck only you need all d2x v8.0 wads installing. d2x v8 Final wad pack as the main ones IOS249 and IOS250 are missing.

You can remove IOS40 and IOS52 Stubs if you just install those two wads from my wad pack with Multi Mod Manager (MMM).

When you load and iso in WBFS Manager you will see two sizes the original iso something like 4.38GB and a finished or added size which can be a quarter of the original size because it converts it to a wbfs format. I tried a 4GB flash drive one day and that would only hold 4 games but it worked ok. I had to choose 4 games that compressed the smallest. So your 8GB drive may hold 6 to 8 games max depending on the compressed size.

You can try Wii Backup Manager

You install those missing wads and you should be up and running providing your USB flash drive is ok. Start saving up for a mains powered USB hard drive.

Once I download your wad pack what do I do? Where should i extract those IOS's?

Those are wads in that zip file you extract the ones I said were Stub IOS40 and IOS52 to the wad folder on the SD card and install them with Multi Mod Manager (MMM) v13.4. Now there used to be a direct site to download but its been off line for a while.

There are a couple of ways you can get MMM.

There are a few apps the download section that have MMM in the download you just extract the MMM folder to the apps folder on the SD card.

Or you download ModMii6.2.6 and run it from Windows. Use the SU option from the main menu and find the location of the sysCheck.csv from the sysCheck. That will download all missing wads and add them to a COPY_TO_SD sub folder. That should pick up the IOS40 and IOS52 and add them to the wad folder. It will add Multi Mod Manager in \apps\MMM folder, just add the MMM folder to the apps folder on the SD card.

Put the SD card back in the Wii and run Homebrew. Multi Mod Manager should be the first app listed select it and load it. Once running scroll down to WAD Manager and press 'A' that will default to all wads in the wad folder. If you want to install all wads shown just press 'A' again that will list all wads you want to install press 'A' again to install them all.

Watch for the Installed OK message after each one. If any don't say that message make a note of the wad name and back out. Scroll down to the wad that didn't install and press the + button the put a green + next to it then press 'A' to see that wads name listed then press 'A' to install again.

Then back out to Homebrew and do another sysCheck to make sure everything installed correctly and post that.

That sysCheck looks ok apart from IOS236 has changed.

Did you use ModMii to add that IOS236 because its changed from IOS236[36] (rev 65535, Info: rev 3351): Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access to IOS236 (rev 6174): Trucha Bug? ModMii always installs the first version shown.I've just watched the YouTube link you posted. Now that looks like an old process even though it was made Dec 2012 because it uses IOS236 Installer / Uninstaller and the cIOSX rev20b Installer. Then it uses WAD Manager 1.7 to unstall the wads. Now I've never gotten WAD Manager 1.5 or 1.7 to work on my 4.3 I've always used Multi Mod Manager (MMM) 13.4.

I also watched his video on softmdding a 4.3U Wii and that was very poor as he only installed Homebrew. He didn't install BootMii or Prepare SD Card so you can do a NAND backup. I assume you did a NAND backup after you softmodded your Wii?

Add a couple of games onto your flash drive and see it they work.

Yes I used ModMii. Also I only used that youtube link for USB Loader GX. I used How To Hack Any Nintendo Wii - Homebrew Channel (Wiibrand Launcher) Tutorial (1/3) - YouTube for mainly everything else. I really don't know what to do at this point. Could it just be a problem with the Wiis USB port or something?

So you've added a few game on your flash drive and they don't work?

Only 1 USB port works for USB drives thats the one nearest the edge of the Wii.

If USB Loader GX can't find a drive it will count down from 20 seconds giving you time enough to swap to the other USB port.

You say your USB flash drive is compatible how do you know when it won't play a game?

I assume USB ports can go faulty but I've never heard of this.

I watched all 3 videos from your link and they are poor. He said I wouldn't show you have to backup your Wii because its not necessay as PriiLoader does that for you, total bullshit. PriiLoader allows you to access BootMii to save or restore your NAND if you brick your Wii.

I used the same youtube vid to mod my wii. I replaced the old usb loader with the current 3.0 I am having the same issues as vpnero(usb loader not detecting my drive). I am curious if a USB powered HDD could be the issue(I dont have one with a separate powersource). I have tried no partitions in different formats, partitions with different formats on each partition, loaded iso or wbfs files on to the drives. Different usb cables.

The really frustrating issue is the Wii will occasionally recognize the HDD. This makes changing things to make it work frustrating. It will pull up the drive, I will play a game I added through USBloaderGX3.0, then I will exit and try to reload usbloader only to get the waiting for slow device...driving me crazy.

Any ideas are welcome

NeoGamma doesn't work on my Wii I get that DVD read error 1167 when I tried to use NeoGamma as the CD drive is too new.
