black wii 4.2e softmod

i used the attatched files and insructions to softmod a number of black 4.2e wii's acouple of months ago and all went great and all wii's still running perfect
the homebrew channel and usb hd loader are all included
all i can remember is im sure i got them fro this site so im just returning someone elses work to thank them

Prob a pretty basic question, but will this also work on version 4.2U? From what I've gathered, the letter is simply the region code, right?

As I understood it ALL black wii's have the new DVD drive that will not play backups. Is this wrong?

usb not working

hi guys im after the usb loader that enables you to transfer games from disc to usb on the wii also do the usb on wii need to be configured as ive trid loader gx and tells me to wait 30 sec and says no usb found
aslo casn any body point me in the direction of the wiiflow as im told this is great for running from usb and getting covers thanks for the info guys

Digital Kaos - Downloads - wiiflow 1.1a format your drive with this Digital Kaos - Downloads - wbfs manager 3 and try swapping usb ports

Hey, thanks for tutorial.

Done steps 1 and 2 on version 4.2e black. Bootmii installed as IOS only.

Step 3 requires the launch of Bootmii from HBC. When I press the home key and try to launch Bootmii the screen goes black and the dvd drive flashes blue. The only thing I can now do is turn off the wii and restart to get to the main menu. I have tried leaving the bootmii folder from step 2 on the sd card; this stops the blue flashing drive when trying to launch bootmii, however now I just get a black screen that hangs.

Even worse, when putting wii sports resort original disc in, the wii requires update. I am not sure I should do this as I have not got far enough to install priiloader and make a NAND backup. (I have only deleted the 4 .wad files listed in step 2 and no others) Wii Sports original will play without update.

Any suggestions as to why I cannot launch bootmii? Should I do the update? and if I do will it stop me soft modding again or worse will it cause a brick?

dont panic wii sports resort is ok to update
reinstall homebrew channel and bootmii again with a quality sd card like verbatim 2gig bootmii is very picky about sd cards

hi will this soft mod work on white wii? or is it just for the black wii running 4.2e

used a sandisk 2gb but will get a verbatim ordered. Will post the result here in a few days.

The other thing is the version of HBC that gets installed is 1.0.5. When starting up it recommends upgrading to 1.0.6.

Should I do this?
