    Ver 3.3e

    Hi

I have modded Wii (chipped) on ver 3.3e.

It's obviously been a long time since anything has been done on this machine, but I know it can be soft modded now. I want to play New Super Mario. Can someone please point me in the right direction from my starting point please.

Will I just be able to make a backup of the game?

or do I need to update the mod?

if you know what chip it is then you can update it by dvd.
or you can softmod it using this http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...indows-170234/ you can use this to soft mod it and update to 4.0 dont go over that or you willlose multi region play.

Wiiman did the chipping for me and I think it must be either wiifree or yaosm. My bet is yaosm. Is that the way to go, and if so does it matter if I'm wrong about it being yaosm. Can I try that first , then wiifree if it doesn't work?

Or should I just softmod? What would you do in my situation?

      thanks in advance

Thank you once again for your assistance.
I can't find tut on how to update yaosm chip on this forum using search facility. Could you please point me in the right direction.

All I have really managed to find is info that states soft modding can compliment hard mod, but that was a posting in Nov 09 relating to Super Mario which is the game I want to get running.

          Thanks

            Hi mate

When I try soft mod using modmii, I don't seem to get option to choose 4.0. Lowest is 4.1. Any ideas on the way forward for me as I can't find info on how to update yaosm chip.

Sorry, I may have not explained properly.

                From my PC
                • I run modmii.exe
                • I type "I Agree"
                • Choose option "W" - Modmii wizard
                • Answer "Yes" to Is you Wii a virgin?
                • Choose current firmware version as 3.x
                • Next choose E=EUR - (PAL)

My next option is what firmware do I want to upgrade/downgrade to:

I only get the choices of
                • 4.3 Not Recommended
                • 4.2
                • 4.1 Recommended

So it's here that I can't choose to seemingly upgrade to 4.0, but seem to have to upgrade to 4.1. You mentioned that above 4.0 will lose my multi region. Am I understanding this correctly?

Okay I think I've soft modded ok.

I haven't got a FAT32 ext drive yet, but I have located a NTSC New Super Mario iso file that is over the 4gb limit of FAT32. IMy understanding is that the drive needs to be FAT32, so I am unsure what to do.

                      EDIT:

I've downloaded WBFS maanager and have managed to reduce file size of iso.

However I cannot get USB loader to recognize anything at the moment. I'm using 2gb micro sd card in a USB adaptor.

these dont always work well, try putting it in the usb in the r/h side port if your looking at the wii from the back or the bottom one if its lying down.

Still no joy. I burned full iso using Ashampoo on dvd-r at 4x and disc does not work either.

When you say 'these dont always work well' are you talking about USB loader, sd card, or WBFS.

The one thing about using WBFS is that it is not possible to create file structure SD:/apps/application name/boot.dol.

To be honest as I'm using just 1 iso file I'm not too sure where I have any input on boot.dol or even what this is.

if your going to burn discs use imgburn free off net google it, with verbatim or same quality dvd-r at slow speed.
when i said these dont work well i meant sd cards in usb adaptor.
when you try and load the game what coloured blank screen do you get?

                              Okay not having much luck.

Using NTSC New Super Mario Bros wii.iso burnt as suggested using Tayo Yuden dvd-r.

When loaded up I get 'An error has occurred, press the eject button, remove the game disc and turn the power off etc....'

I am using the same iso with WBFS on SD card. When I use usb load from the created channed screen shows large wii control then goes back to show all channels. No blank screen at all.

I have not removed any files etc from SD card used to soft mod, and this card is still in the wii. Is this correct?

Is it possible I have not soft modded properly, or is it possible that the iso is just bad. (If I'm at 4.1 will NTSC definately work?)

                              Thanks in advance.
