    Cant Install Homebrew Channel

Please bear with me as I am new to the wii. My wii is 4.2E so I am following instructions for that.

I am trying to install ths Homebrew channel. Have followed instructions to install 'bannerbomb v2' but when I insert SD card the system just freezes. I have tried every version of the files on the bannerbomb site but it freezes evry time.

Where am I going wrong? or is this a known problem?

Any help would be much appreciated.

have you got hackmii installer on the card and using the sd card icon in the bottom l/h corner?
also if your using the latest hackmii installer 0.8 you need ios58 installed first so use a older version. are you getting the disclaimer page before it freezes?

          Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I have hackmii 0.8 on the card, I copied the file boot.elf as per instructions, also the private folder extracted from the bannerbomb .rar file (I have tried 3 versions of this).

I am clicking on the icon in the bottom lh corner, then channels, then SD card - at which point it freezes (bannerbomb page says it may do this - suggests using older version if it does)

don't know anything about ios58 - how do I install that? I thought you needed the homebrew channel to install anything - and I don't have this channel for the reasons specified, so I'm ~~~~ed right?

You do not NEED ios58 to install 0.8. It is just advisable as it gives proper usb2 support. If you run without ios58 installed it will still work.

Have you tried a different memory card?

I have tried 2 different cards, including the one that came with the wii - same result with both.

Basically connects your wii to the internet, if it's on it can effect bannerbomb, or so I've read.

How To Turn WiiConnect24 On or Off
Select the Wii Options icon from the bottom left of the screen on the Wii Menu.
                      Click on Wii Settings option
                      Click on the right arrow
                      Select WiiConnect24 button
On the WiiConnect titled screen, click on the WiiConnect24 option
                      Select ON or OFF
                      Select Confirm.

but did you try the older version anyway?
are you getting the scam warning page before freezing?
and are you sure your on 4.2?

I am definately on 4.2E. I have downloaded a different set of files and tried again. This time the wii does not freeze but all I get is a question mark on the first 'tile' on the SD Card menu.

                          Any ideas why?

sounds like you dont have the files on the sd card correctly.

Thanks. This was the first set of files I tried that led to it freezing, but maybe I did something wrong. I will try this again and let u know the results.
