Liteon DG 16DS2 - A0A1

Hi

I'm really being slow to do this mod, and I suppose the reason is I barely use it. However once done I'm sure I'll see the benefit.

I'm only as far as taking 360 apart and finding out that I have Liteon DG 16DS2 Rev A0A1.

I can see I need to get hardware, but I'm not too sure what to get. My pc does have SATA connection from motherboard and I'm not too sure if that is relevant to what I need to buy. If I get there on this mod and I use usenet am I going to have to buy a specific drive to burn discs or can I go the way of the wii with an external drive holding my games?

I'm just trying to see the cots involved to mod something I'm not using.

It all depends if you will be using the Xbox for live. If you go on line with it you will need to soft mod the Xbox drive and yes you will need a new burner to burn the latest games. If you will never go on live you can use things like the reset glitch and load games from your hard drive.

Play online= ck3 pro or cki both with compatible sata connection like via or usbpro
Never online= reset glitch or x360key
Once you know what line you will go down we can give some more advice

Links to what i need would be very helpful (including burner - is there one that will do it all in today's world?)

If I need hardware then should I consider letting someone just do it for me or is the learning curve worth it in the long run?

Hi everything you need is here All except your buner you can use 1 of the following

Liteon iHAS124B = baseline model
Liteon iHAS224B = 124 + LightScribe
Liteon iHAS324B = 124 + SmartErase
Liteon iHAS424B = 124 + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 224 + SmartErase)
Liteon iHAS524B = 124 + LabelTag + SmartErase
Liteon iHAS624B = 124 + LabelTag + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 524 + LightScribe)
Most folks go for the baseline model
If you are only going to flash your box once then better to get someone else to do it. If your going to flash a couple of boxes get the via card instead of the usb360 pro. If your going to get alot of boxes to flash get the usb360 pro

I think the bundles gives you things you wont need.

And for this one make sure you have a spare pci port in your pc if not its the x360pro

If you get someone to flash it yes you will prob need to get them to flash it again.
TIP ms will bring out a system update sometime next month. Once that gets brought out it may impact flashed xbox,s for a few weeks so you may want to hold of buying things till that happens.

You may not need a via card if you have onboard SATA. I have been using my SATA on a intel P55 board without any problems.

I use a CK3 lite to power the drive but don't use all this other TX stuff which may be useful but is expensive overkill in most cases imho.

CK3 lite is a discontinued product. Been replaced with CK3i & ck3i mini.
Other products overkill? Nah, the ease of it now and noob frienlyness is unreal, ck3i auto power cycles ect, usbpro takes away all driver issues, probe v3 dumps all info from any phat liteon drive so yeah they are overkill

So for real ease of use for a newbie what is the exact kit you would recommend I buy. If I am gonna buy I want easy over price (as long as it's not stupid price difference. I'm perfectly happy and able to open xbox and or pc, but if possible I would rather pay for hardware that could reduce this. I am sure somewhere I have seen that you have recommended buying 2nd xbox drive. It's things like this I would really like info on. I don't mind the expense within reason.

This seems to be the BEST VALUE BUNDLE if I want everything I could possibly need and more. It is still working out cheaper than buying the 3 items you recommend although it's out of stock now. Will I actually ever need to use the following extras:

Its only gonna be worth your while if you can make your money back by flashing the odd 360 here and there. If your not wanting to get into that then Id just find a local guy to hook you up!

?20-?30 for a Phat drive, are you serious? ?15 tops should be going rate imho.
As for him not buying the kit? Why wunt he be able? If he follows the guides from team jungle to the letter or ubergeeks tutorials on TX then there is no reason why he cant do his own.
The money he would save on updates to drive fw would pay it back for him + any potential friends drives he could flash.

On the other hand, if he's not comfy with doing it then yes, get someone else to do it for you.

Slim drives are another kettle of fish BTW
