    like this
Forums.Xbox-experts.com - an easy way to fix 0001/0002/0003

if it boots up and displays picture and has sound, yes you can flash it.
just make sure it plays original games before you mess with it,
if it doesn't you may be looking at a bad laser or lost drive key depending on what it can play.
0110 console - i tested it with a brand new power supply from amazon the connections are the same (back of 360 etc)
any pictures or videos how to do this as would be easy to how that now
0001 console- i tried it with a brand new power lead and brick from amazon, i dont own a multimeter so cant go that way round
the white arcade console comes on the screen sound come out and plays orignal discs
so im good on that one then
its a samsung drive too (red and black wires though hole at front)

0110 error is what I have repaired with steps stated. Ensure to use kpads on ram chips.

It's quite easy to do just time consuming. Use arctic silver thermal paste when reseating heat sinks.

0001 error with red led on psu I'd look at usb ports that none are bent shorting out as this will give you red led on psu if not then a reflow might be required.

They would be touching the casing for the motherboard causing the short and red led.

When a psu goes red it means there is a somewhere.

Google what they would look like or try plugging something sub in all 3

They run your motherboard thro a reflow machine. Going rate approx 40 notes to have done.

Method I used is really only a temp fix with varied results

Is it worth it paying that sort of money to fix these old things nowadays?

My bodgit method (that has actually worked for a good few machines now) is to stick some cheap thick thermal pads onto the ram chips on the underside of the board (thick enough pads that the rest of the board bends a little when you screw it all back together) then wrap that dastardly noisey Microsoft Wind Turbine impersonator all up snuggly tightly with several towels, heck, roll it up in a duvet too, with just the power lead coming out.. Then power the thing on and start cooking. It'll turn itself off when its insides are cooked enough (its crappy lead free solder reflowed a bit or just enough) Next unwrap the furnace, then connect that noise monster back up to ya TV, it'll probably work ok now...

They've been working fine for the last 3 or 4 years as far as Im aware...

Why not just try cooking them first without doing anything internally, its affectionately known as the "Towel Trick" .. Google it... Many laugh and scoff at the idea, but if it gets the box back to life then its worth it, even if only for a short while... It aint gonna damage the box any further...
