Maybe, but the game worked for a short time, so the update was in there.

How can I tell what firmware and drive I have without opening it up? Someone else modded my system and I cant get ahold of them to find out. When I put Assassins Creed 2 into my computer it says I need to put it into an XBOX 360 console, when I put it in my XBOX 360 it said play DVD and it looks like it starts to load but then the screen flashes and a white screen comes up with the words XBOX 360 and the XBOX 360 logo. Does that mean I need the Activate disc? Will that fix my problem or do I have something else wrong with it?

It didnt work. The Activator disc burned successfully and I saw the screen you had a picture of, then I took it out and put in Assassins Creed 2, but it did the same thing as it did without the Activator disc...it flashed and then the white screen with the XBOX 360 words and logo....what can I do.

Only works on 1.6 firmware.
More likely you have a drive flashed with software other than 1.6.

So update to 1.6 if liteon and use disk or update to 1.61 on sammy or benq and you wont need the disk.
