How do you know if the console is banned ? Do you get some on screen message ?? My stepson's console is not modded. But for some reason he cannot get a connection to X box live...even though it is connected to the internet...all the correct ports are forwarded as it DID work up until about 1 week ago. I have messed about with it today, changing the Ip and everything, but it gets to the final part of the test, and it says cannot connect to X box live !!

You're not banned mate don't worry I've been banned and it says something like you've violated the terms of your XBOX live membership.

Microsoft annually have little sprees of banning just before Christmas when all of the good games come out - there'll be a firmware update that allows users to go online but there won't be a fix for consoles that are already banned... The same's bound to happen next year. Not sure if its worth getting free games for a year and then having to buy a new xbox or not

Am I right in saying that all of the newer Xbox s that are produced now come with falcon motherboards that are harder to mod or something?

@ its a scam your problem is a simple fix mate set everything to manual set everything back to 0 then set to automatic and it will pick back up happened to me loads of times

Thanks for help.......but when you say set everything back to zero, what exacly do you mean ?? Everything in our house has a static ip ( There is 14 pieces of kit in our house, and they all are on static ip's ) I have tried going into the network settings for the x box, and changing its ip from 192.168.0.58 to 192.168.0.57 and i have then altered the port forward settings within the router. I know that the internet is connected as i have unplugged the x box and tried the cat 5 on my lappy

It is well worth it from a purely financial perspective, even if you were to only download four 360 games all year you still get your money back if you look at it that way, because you can get a limbless 360 (box only but fully working) off ebay cheaply enough and you can be back up and running online in no time. Download more than 4 games per year ? You're laughing.

The only way it's not worth it is if you prefer to buy legit copies anyhow. Which is a personal preference thing at the end of the day, some would rather pay and have the manual booklet and have it all tarted up and have less headaches. I can see it from both sides.

Ok, Finally got it working....believe it or not, the ports that i am supposed to open are blocking X box live !! Can anyone tell me what the hell that is all about ?? I now have no open ports directed towards the X box, and it seems to be ok...I will keep you informed as my lad is now going to play some online games....

You'll probably find that the ports you've now closed will bugger something else up hope it holds up though. Its probably too late and you may have already found it but take a look at this if you run into any more trouble:

Well......a few hours have passed, and everything seems ok....my server is ok, my STB's are ok, all the pcs seem ok, the wii seems ok, the media server seems ok....The mind boggles
