360 no video/sound but no rrod???

as the title says i have a 360 theres no video or audio, its not the av lead (i tried a brand spanker)
its firing up as normal, green lights n everything, trays ejecting etc, but nothings coming on the tv, (its not the tv either),
cant get any error codes cos it isnt recognising any errors,
how can I fix this? its an old first gen, silver tray bezel, non hdmi etc, its the first problem ever since new in 2006.
    any help or info apreciated.
    thanks in advance

You tried flicking the swith on the lead from hd to tv?

    What lead are you using?

Try getting a scart lead from a friend or order one. If that dont work its the output on the board thats gone.

its not the lead, it doesnt have a hd/tv switch on it, i've tried 2 different leads including a brand new 1 & the one it came with and both leads work on another box,
i was just wondering if a reflow might solve the problem, I cant see any burnt bits on the mobo, or any tin slivers etc, so i dont think anythings gone pop, but my reflow kit is on its way so i'll see what happens after a reflow.

what you do mate take it apart then pull the fan lead out. then turn it back on let it heat up untill it turns to two red lights.

then wait till it all cools down then turn it back on after like 10 min then it will come back on.

i had the same prob but now its fixed.

ps this will not last long you will need a heat gun to fix it forever and replace the x clamps with bolts and washers.

please let me no what happends it will work so try it you will be playing it 2night.

i'm not after a quick fix that lasts 10 mins , if it needs reflowing thats not a problem, I just havent come across one with this problem, that hasn't red lighted, and since it hasn't red lighted i cant get an error code up, if it's just a cracked soder joint thats causing it I can reflow the whole board, I was just wondering if a reflow would fix it or if its a known problem that may need components replacing etc.

Chances are it wont fix it.

I have known HDMI ports to stop working.

If you have a spare board and the reflow dont work might be worth trying a swap on the adapter at the back of the console.

its not got hdmi on it.
its an old xenon board, it only has the av port, i dont know if its that though, he said this morning the screen went green, and froze green whilst playing guitar hero, he switched it off left it for a few mins then when he put it back on it all lights up green like it should finds the controllers etc, the tray ejects, no red lights, and no video or audio, to me it sounds like the ana chips blown but that should red light and give an error code, wouldnt it? or its got a cold solder joint, I'll try a reflow first, cant realy break it any more . like i said i've never seen one die without the red lights,

Never seen one die without rrod either. But the AV ports can go just the same and this does not cause RROD.

Maybe a reflow might help. I had one that broke up and pixelated then got rrod within couple minutes.

I reflowed and all is working fine now.

So you may be correct in saying cold solder break. Although it should show up rrod.

did i say it will fix for 10 min nah. give it a try to see if that's the prob then reflow you must swap the x clamps other wise it will keep messing up. the reflow will fix it. when the motherboard heats up when your playing it the board bends cuz the x clamps. if you don't do that then your ****ed an then u gotta buy a new one. do what ya want.

I know overheating it can possibly sort it out but, you are OVERHEATING it, this puts a lot of strain on other components on the board, (almost as bad as the towel trick) and it will go again if not the same day within a few months, also the reason the board warps, is because the middle lug on the chassi is about half a mm too tall, sand it down a bit and the board then sits flat,
yes the xclamps are crap, I will be replaceing them with bolts, I will also be using the uniclamp, to help keep it flat, I know how to fix rrod I've done it lots of times, my problem was it hasnt gone rrod, and i havent seen this problem before. and theres no point reflowing it if all it needs is a new av port.
but it is looking like it needs reflowing.

You not capable of trying to fix these yourself?

Or was i right in saying you are a kid?
