my cat just sat on my lappy for a while whilst its switched on,once i took him off i cannot open firefox from my desktop,i double click the icon and it looks as though its going to open but dosent,i tried it over and over again,,what has the cat done to my lappy its doing my brain in,,it has been for the last hour,,firefox was open when he sat on it with multiple tabs open,there was a box opened aswell which asked me something that i cannot remember now but it was saying hit f7 for yes
i clicked no
now its ~~~~ed
anyone help me out please

ironically this thread is about the new firefox,at the mo im on dk using safari web browser its so quick,i mean really quick,quicker than firefox

try a system restore from a point before the cats @ss. if that doesnt work, i think a new install of fire fox will probably keep all your bookmarks/setting if they are still there. mine kept from old firefox to version4

tried the restore and the uninstall reinstall no difference
i looked up mozilla help etc,went through some different things but no joy,i cant even get it to open in mozilla safe mode
or by start/run/mozilla.exe and various other commands
im well and truky ~~~~ed at the moment

is firewall or antivirus blocking it? will it start from its folder in My Computer/C:/program files?

no firewall blocking and no anti virus
wont start from folder
basically i have looked at a hundred different firefox help topics/pages this evening
i cant even get into profile manager to change profile and try it that way,every time i try profile manager i get a crash report box opening asking if i want to send report etc

Have you backed up the application folder and deleted it then reinstalling?

Just had a quick google and it mentions locked files,
backup, uninstall, delete, install fresh copy.

Uninstall, reboot and down the latest version!

i went back to 3.6. the netbook is on windows 7 and quite a few of my add ons wouldnt work.

Had the same issue with the Smart Bookmarks addon. Turned off version check - sorted.


Only recommended for those that have backed up their Firefox settings:

1. Type about:config in your URL bar
2. Right-click > New > Boolean
3. Preference Name = extensions.checkCompatibility
4. Value = false

imusing safari now,so no issue with another browser

i removed manually from program file as when i tried from add/remove proggy it wouldnt let me
anyway got rid of it from c/proggy files
re booted dl fiirefox 4 installed then i have mozilla safe mode icon on desktop
click on that and box appears saying exe file is missing
do you wanna find it ? course i ~~~~in do but i dont know where it is,i deleted it earlier from c/proggy file
ive just about had enough of it,its doing my nut in
im no programmer type believe me,havent a clue what to do next apart from throw the ~~~~in lappy out the window
