    Interesting thread big lad.. I will look at the results of this one too.
    Personally, I would try go for an i3 processor, your looking at ?370 ish.. I have seen them for ?315 in a tesco sale, and upwards of ?400, differing specs..
    It is not THE best in terms of performance, but it is far from a slouch either. I have the i3 in a desktop, and I am well happy, and it is one of the most cool running low powered chips around..
    This is my opinion tho..
    Will keep a close eye on this thread.

    oh, forgot to add... if I could, I would get another Aldi one, at least you get a 3 year Warranty. Unfortunately I have not seen any for sale in there for ages. My (not cheap) Samsung lappy ~~~~ed up after about 2 years.. and only a one year warranty on the bugger.

                  Defiantly recommend Acer ... mine is coming up to 5yrs old and still going strong ...

                  only real problem i had was the BD drive which had to replaced a few times ... support was good ... had good value for my money.

                  @manx

                    always say you cant go wrong with a sony vaio the cheapest one you can afford. Had current one since vistas first inception and its still running great and lightning quick too.

                      Bloody expensive tho, for same spec as alternative. Not knocking ya choice, if you can afford it mind.

                            How important is battary life and portability ?

                            17" or 15" ?

                            Do you need higher spec graphics or bluray drive ?

                            Personal bought an 17" median from Aldi a year, good spec and comes with 3 year warranty. Apart from usual bloatware on their load been great laptop.

                              Speeakers are generally piss anyway mate.. better to get an active set if you intend playing movies on it. A good few have HDMI out if you wanted to play thru your slight less than piss poor telly speakers
