    Can i trust Ebay

I plan to spend over a grand on a camera i have chosen on ebay, its about a ?100. cheaper than the high street. Can i trust that i'm not buying a clone, how can i tell if the item i'm buying is the genuine articul. I hav bought things on ebay before but i've never spent this amount of money. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR REPLIES.

If its a power seller with good feedback, you use paypal then you are covered, still paying out that amount, i would ring paypal to ensure cover.

As the guys said, cant beat over the counter

agree totally with wetdog, thats only a 10% saving on a grand. its too much of a risk,if you can get hold of cash return to high street and do a bit of haggling, you may be pleasantly surprised at the outcome if you try hard enough.

yup, a good face to face deal is what you want, take a print out and ask for a price match at least.

as for paypal covering your grand+, i wouldnt want all the hassle and waiting. its 10% dude, if it was 30% or more then you would be talking.

maybe post a link up and let the experianced guys have a butchers.

              mick.

                    Canon EOS 7D Kit with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens | eBay

Above is my prefered option. Below is the other that may take a bit of time arriving. Wot you think, thanks for all the advice by the way The thinkin behind the saving of ?100 is that i can buy her a HD memory card that retails at around ?75.

clem, to be honest mate i have sold cameras on there before and have also purchased from there. no probs.

just go through the feedback profile of the person. see if the have any beg or neutral feedback and have a read of them.

                      make your judgment from there.

i have sold 3 top notch ones at over ?850 each. all great and have bought 2 as well. i prefer to collect when possible.

i've just looked at the listing and it's from hong kong. i would probabley steer clear as you will have import duty and a long way to go if there is a problem.

never had any probs with ebay myself ... saying that i would not pay a grand for electronic equipment coming from china tbh

anything goes wrong with your camera and you will probs end up forking out more than the ?100 you saved to sort it out
