Hi there guys n gals. So a friend of mine referred me here (don't think he's active here anymore) anyways I have questions regarding the recent goings on in internetland.
Seeing as Virgin Media (and others) have been ordered to block access to The Pirate Bay and now the government wants to push through the blocking of p0rn sites I'm getting a little uncomfortable at the level of control they wish to extert on my internet browsing.
Now I do very little with torrents and avoid filth like the plague (viruses and what not) but still I wonder where this will end up. I've seen VPN's mentioned a few times.
I understand what VPN's are and how they work but I don't really know if it is actually worth paying for one. I have seen some that say they have high bandwidth allowances. How does this affect my current broadband package if I chose to get a VPN account?
I currently have an "unlimited" internet deal with Virgin. If I were to pay for a VPN would it be worth dropping my speeds to cover the costs or does it not work like that?
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
