Mistakenly formatted the D drive partition containing the system restore or backup.
Will it affect the desktop machine.
your pc should be ok,will still run your O/S
but if anything goes wrong with windows 7,it could be a bit of a problem,as you deleted your backup partition,which is used to repair your copy of windows,should any problems occur,but all is not lost,if you got a backup disk with system fine,you can use that,if not you can download a backup disk,
or boot disks.or if machine was new,you can order a backup disc from manufacturer.
Backing up important data to an external disk is alot better than using a recovery partition. So don't worry about the recovery partition just backup your data

You mean dont worry about it untill you need to do a factory default and you cant because you deleted it.So backing up his data to another hdd wont help......................
