      really appreciate the help smoggy but i dont know where to look for this 595b.There is no other numbers after the service tag just the express service code. cheers

        if there is no suffix then its generally -595B that works (or nothing else works)
        do you get an error code if you input the wrong password 3 times

          just restarts after entering wrong code 3 times.
          i just tried -595B and -D35B myself and got the password but none work. stumped now.

            only other 2 suffixes are -A95B and -2A7B (this one will give 16 digit password in upper and lower case)
            but as I said if 595B doesn't work your generally out of luck.
            it could be one of the second generation suffix's which at present can only be done by Dell or paid service website

                  I've my password for the last 2 days and it wont work. I've used the same password for years and it worked b4 I went on vacation last week. I have done nothing or made any changes and dont understand why its not taking my password.

                        I have a Dell Inspiron 1501
                        Service tag HJSH5C1 no suffix
                        It asks for a drive password The s/n from the drive label is
                        WX21A70P8413
                        Also in setup it asks for a password and after 3 tries I get
                        System Disabled [07934]
