Hi all got a prob with laptopwhen not at home get wierless connection but cant connect to internet any ideas? using an aspire 7540! HOOPe someone can help!
make sure firmware is up to date
so less chance of software problems.
check to see if you can connect to the router
with your router security algorithm password wpa2,wpa etc
also make sure your hardware your using for the network can read the security like wpa2,wpa etc
sometimes that causes issues but its less likely now with hardware.
check to see if your internet is actually connected to the router its usually
under status or somethink like that.
check your wireless part is enabled and broadcast is on so laptop can see it.if you
have types of security or schedules on eg. a mac address filter on youll need to add
your ip address of the laptop to the filter to allow only them ip addresses.
also if you have a dhcp check to see you have room for your laptop
and set the number of computers in your network as the maximum.
Check to see if you can connect to the router.
Make sure you have enterd the correct security password for the router to connect to your laptop.( the passsword should be on the router).
Thanks all!! Will try again at the weekend but have tried several times in the past (at various different places) using WEP key and it's always shown same problem - Connected but no Internet Access.
Anyone seen this issue before??
Cheers.
Maybe you have static ip address configured on your lappy. When you connect to a random router (with correct password of course), it is probably that has DHCP enabled. Try enable DHCP on your lappy and connect to a wireless network again.
