was my next suggestion.. time to go and download some AV using another PC and transfer the install via CD etc... intall it and clean it, then use the antispyware as well

        Free AV available from:

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

        another option is:

A third party firewall is recommended:
        Free Firewall by ZoneAlarm

Some antispyware, install and get used to running all three every two weeks..
Spybot - Search & Destroy - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

SpywareBlaster? | Prevent spyware and malware. Free download.

Ad-Aware Free - Download security software for spyware removal - Lavasoft

Now i know people will be flying in here to recommend their favourite programs, but lets just leave it with these for now while we try and get gibbo74 up and running again..

An online AV scan is also available from:
Antivirus Software and Internet Security For Your PC | McAfee

When you have cleaned you machine, make sure windows updates have the latest updates...

Let us know how you get on..

you can reset or you can repair it... your choice...

to factory reset press F11 on startup or use the restore CD/DVD you got with it..

what make/model is it..?. many manufacturers make a restore partition on the hard disk which when invoked will restore the operating system back to its delivery state... To invoke this restore facility on many machines is by pressing the F11 key during bootup (before windows starts).
