Removed cd drive, now pc not working!!

I removed a broken unworking cd writer from pc now the comp is not booting, can't find IDE drives etc .. Thought I would just be able to take out and maybe change the slave/ master about but no can't get it to work, it did boot at first but with the display really large, I swapped stuff about an now won't boot at all!!!.

Should I have uninstalled the drive on pc first?, what shall I do now? Should I try put back as it was? Cheers micky

may sound daft m8 but if it will not boot at all just check your connections,you may have loosened something when you removed the drive

like gc1966 suggested it should fix it once you
reassemble it

also check your psu and ram.

what did you change hardware wise?

the problem with your display happens quite a lot can be a number of reasons for that problem with displays

like when unistalling software or games that change the resoultion.

could be that :

your graphics driver needs reinstalling
the resoultion or dpi needs changing back to normal

Just won't boot, loads screen but does not boot from cd now, think that's because I have took the drive cd out. but there is still one in, it was just that the one I removed wouldnt work or burn discs.but the disc I removed was the one my pc used to boot from disc? It's just sat here now and me looking at it all confused

try pressing press F1 or F2 or DEL or ESC or F10 to get into bios, see does the bios recognise the drive.
what kind of pc is it?

When you took out the Cd drive was there any other devices connected on the ide cable? I only ask as you may have dislodge the cable connecting the hard disk?

Also

what is the exact error messege you get on your screen when you switch on?

The IDE cable was connected to my other cd drive,

Try getting into the BIOS settings and change the boot sequence, if you say the computer used to boot from the drive you took out, that must have been the drive for your boot start up, now it can't find it so as stated you need to change the boot sequence i belive in the BIOS settings.

or just another thought use the cable that was connected to the one you took out and plug into the working drive to see if that fixes it.......

You have to change settings in the bios

There should be 2 ide channels and a floppy channel on the motherboard.

What other devices are connected to the IDE lead(s) and at what jumper settings? master/slave
